Hello group, I am after a little advice.
My Russian fiancee and I are to be married in Russia a little later this year and we are contemplating a life together, possibly in Moscow. With this in mind I have a couple of questions. What is the process for obtaining a Residency Permit? What are the employment oppertunities for someone with limited Russian? I know this may sound a little crazy, but I hope someone may be able to offer some practical advice. Thanks for your help Geoff |

Hi,
1. Ask your fiancee to go to her local visa-and-registration office (OVIR) and find out the EXAT rules and procedure. Or better consult a lawyer, who specializes in this field. (The cost of their services is pretty high, but even then you can afford at least one consultation). And be ready to wait, be patient and go through all that Russian bureaucracy. ![]() 2. Employment: It depends on what employment you have in mind. The chances that you will find a grand employment which could possibly enable you to maintain yourself and your wife are not great. Also bear in mind that in order to get officially employed in Moscow you should obtain a registration there. There are several ways to get it and each of them depends on your status. |
