What kinds of music do you like?

For example, Mumiy Troll's got a site at, you guessed it, www.mumiytroll.com. Their songs, lyrics, pictures, info, etc. are all there on a very professional site.

It's not too hard to find mp3s to download. Even www.mp3.com has some cool Russian music (to download *legally*!)... this is where I finally found Militsia! by Chugunniy Skorohod (listed in English as "Police!" by C.I. Fastwalker).

I've found quite a bit of Masha i Medvedi stuff out there, too.

I guess it all depends on what style of music you like. Video clips, on the other hand... I haven't found any. I'd love to find where to download some video of Tu-Lu-La by Chicherina or the award-winning Nevesta video by Mumiy Troll...

Cool... I've heard a bit of HiFi's stuff and really like it. When I was in Russia, I bought all of the Nashe Radio CDs (compilitation CDs put together by a radio station). These CDs and Radio Maximum helped me discover some bands that I liked, and also which to avoid... like Naik Borzov...

I came across a website loaded with Ryki Verx stuff. I'll see if I've still got the bookmark and let you know. I haven't really had the chance to listen to them, but I think now I'll try!

And for your other question... my last name is Ukrainian, but my grandpa was born in Orenburg. I'm second generation born and raised in Canada, though. I don't know why, but I've got some irresistable thing pulling me towards Russia, so I have started going back each semester.

Muzika!

I absolutely love Hi-Fi, and Ruki Vverh, Larisa Chernikova, Ivanushki International, Virus, and Tatiana Bulanova are some of my favorites. If you're a Napster person you can find tons of Russian music there..but the future of that is uncertin for now. If you're looking to acctually BUY some Russian music from the internet http://www.russianbeat.com is pretty good.

I have problems finding Russian music too, there's this site http://www.mmpp33.narod.ru and it's really good. Ivanushki is really cool! So is Ruki Vverh, HiFi, Chicherina, Zemfira (one of my new favorites), Decl, Otpetie Moshenniki, and so is Naik Borzov. Napster is getting pretty weird. You can't find any of the really cool songs anymore like Naik's V Budushem Luni.
