What are the chords/scales used in Rock music?

Now I know the word rock has become has become vague so I will better explain it. I mean Rock as if in White Stripes, Strokes, Nirvana, Blur, etc.

All chords are used, minors, flats, sharps, augmented etc. The scales are basic scales.

Is there a particular song you are thinking about?
