How can you describe the social attitude in Russia. I will explain... In the west, America and North America particularly, the perception of the population is that in Russia the people are distant or cold. It's true, only at 50% or simply nothing at all. I'm interested to know...
Thank's ------------------ |

Hi Youri,
It is not true. I do not think that people in Russia are cold and distant. Especially, it is absolutely different in small towns and villages. They may seem to be a little bit unfriendly at first sight, but usually this is only the very first impression -- the more you get to know them, the more they get "open" and "warm". I might be wrong, but this is what it looks like in my opinion. |

Hey there,
I always thought that Russians are the simplest people in the world, they will give away their last shirt just to help the others. I remember from my childhood that we'd never let a visitor go withiout at least a cup of tea... |

The USA will veiw Russians with the same
one eye wink , that the Russian veiw us with. Every where you travel the first thing that happens is the basic defensive look as to Who the heck are you" and it isn't till you know who you talking to, or dealing with,or the in's and out's of the people, that you drop the one eyed look...the raised eye brow..and thats HUMAN NATURE. putnik,sputnik,beatnik..right Jessica..!!! now I'll have that cup of tea.!!! |

Maybe it comes from old movies. Any American who has dared to speak to a Russian, would find them to be warm friendly people who invite you to tea after they meet you one day on the train, and when you get there serve you some of the mowt beutiful home grown vegetables that you have ever seen.
Every Russian I've ever met has treated me kindly and with respect and more hospitality than you ever would recieve in America... unless your rich or famous in America, that's how good I've always been treated! Maybe our americans get that Impression because Russian aren't as loud and obnoxious as we are! -I don't know?? |

In all of my travels all over Russia, which are incredibly frequent, since I'm there at least 3-6 times a year I have always experienced the sweetest welcome and warmest smiles. When ever I'm on the road for example from Odessa to Kiev, or the Transsiberian Railroad people on the train always share what ever food they have brought with everyone else, sometimes some strange woman would cover me with her blanket if its cold, or offer me some bread and butter without ever asking my name...so when ever I step on the train I make sure to have lots of extra food to share with my neighbours, it makes the trip incredibly pleasant. The only people that were ever rude to me were teenagers, but this is very rare as well, I find that most Russians of any class or age have incredibly pleasant manners and giving personalities.
Hope this helps, but the best way to find out is to take a trip to Russia ) |
