Nothing in the universe travels faster than light and I think it takes light some 100 years to get from the nearest star to earth. We can't go anywhere near the speed of light.
If they send a probe, it will take a long time to hear from it.

Maybe they've got all the time in the world, comrade reb. Lifespans greater than threescore years and ten are not unknown even on our world, giant tortoises, etc. Also they may be able to induce hibernation either naturally or with the aid of advanced technology and/or be willing to construct ships capable of bearing many consecutive generations across space. And FTL flight is unlikely given our current understanding of physics, but comrade Castle Stormer correctly points out that we are far from knowing ALL about the Universe. I still do not understand why he is so sure the aliens are within the Solar System, though. I thought I was the only advocate of unusual ideologies here, glad for the company!PEACE,T.

"Arrogant and preposterous"

I find your thoughts here very interesting. I will admit to having a fairly closed mind to the subject up 'till now- but your ideas intreage me. I would take some convincing, because I don't find it arrogant, OR preposterous, but certainly .........HHmmmmm

Einstein

I do recall something about an Einstein theory that the faster you travel the slower time goes so that a man that spent his life traveling in space would come back to find his grandchildren were physicaly older than he.

In all my studies and struggling to understand what the
h-ll is going on - I have come to the conclusion that I will keep an open mind about any possibilities because I realize there is SOOOO much that we don't yet know. I have personally experienced some things that definitely make me doubt that we are alone. If I had heard what I now know from someone else, and not experienced it myself - I would have never believed it. In fact, I stopped telling anyone about it because they thought either I was making it up/embellishing, or having some kind of "mental" episode. But I have since seen cases, of people who are not psycho freaks, who reported experiencing similar things - and I had never met these people and they had never discussed their experiences with each other or me. But it's one of those things that if you haven't seen it or lived it for yourself - no one could ever convince you it happened.

Think about this

We spin around at 1000 MPH while circleing the Sun at a speed of 500,000 MPH.It takes a year to make the trip around the Sun even at that speed. For all intents and purposes we ourselves are space travelers. The first snail to arrive on planet Earth was traveling faster and farther than it took NASA astronauts to get to the Moon.So in my view God presented man with the better space vehicle long before Wright brothers took to wings.I do not think aliens from space just dive in and jerk drunks up to take them on joy rides just for grins. If they have the ability to get here then they would have demonstrated something more sensable because fools seldom have shown enough capability to do much more than produce TV programs. >> http://www.analemma.com/Pages/Introd...roduction.html

And why don't they stay? Look at us! We are a fallen race on a very small planet where evil resides in full force before it's complete elimination very soon.Evidence, please? Why would a race that hasn't fallen? want to come down and fellowship with us? They've probably been warned, or just have 20/20 vision. They're not stupid, and probably don't want to have to talk to Larry King, Wolf Blitzer, or be on Jerry Springer. And neither do I, so what? But they do get the opportunity to see what happens to a race that allows evil and disobedience to God to grow and fully mature.

We have quite a talent for messing up pristine things,And what "pristine things" would those be, comrade? and we would be doing them no favors!
In conclusion, I do not agree with your cynical views about humanity or understand how they are intended to support your claim that extraterrestrial intelligences are present in the Solar System- you seem like a fairly nice person, can you explain a little bit more for me, please?PEACE,T.

The Apollo astronauts were (and are still) traveling at the rate of Earth's average orbital velocity at all times during the mission, since Moon and Earth alike take one year to complete annual orbital circuit. Plus escape velocity required to escape Earth gravity well, and, no contest, snail must lose! Great astronomy link, though! Thanks!

Over millenia, humanity has become more conspicuous due to increasing numbers and discovery of new sources of power over the physical realm. Aliens capable of crossing interstellar space have axiomatically greater power in this regard, due to their ability to perform what we currently cannot. For this reason, it is logical to assume that such beings would be even more conspicuous than humans. Mysterious events such as animal mutilations, crop circles, etc., therefore have other and perhaps just as shocking origins. At least, this is my argument, what seems most likely at the moment.PEACE,T.
