This whole process of US presidential elections has turned into a
fiasco. Now the Florida state commission says that the counties are
required to send certified results within 7 days of the elections.
However, due to the issue of absentee votes and postal ballots which
are due within next ten days or so, the situation is ever confusing.
It seems that postal ballots etc are given indefinite time to be taken
into account as against the norm in the whole world that after a
specific period these are considered time barred.
The issues of rejected fifteen thousand votes and irregularities has complicated the matter even further.
I think its high time the legislature should reconsider the whole process
of election so that this confusion does not arise in the future.

Yep, no more elections. Selecting another person to rule over you is the epitome of stupidity. Vote for me, not politicians.

As an American, I can tell you that nothing is wrong with our voting process. We are voting the way our forefathers set the forth more than 200 years ago and this process works.

But State law declares that if vote is to close to call, as in the state of Florida, an automatic recount (a law that was written many years ago) is mandatory.

As far as voting improprieties, maybe some of the voters in Florida are just to stupid to read a ballet sheet.

The re-count was to be preformed by close of business on Thursday (November 9th), and it still leaves Bush in the lead, but the absentee ballets might take till November 17th to be counted.

Well, txBlondy, we may as well begin your education here. Our Fleecing Forefathers created a mind-numbing commercial contract to protect themselves as all greedy businessmen are prone to do, especially since they (our greedy little merchant forefathers) could operate almost with impunity. That which you consider a constitution and a bill of rights are really legal instruments governing the conducting of business-capitalism at it worse. Stick around. There'll be more coming. Peace

Greetings,

Keep your eyes on the ABSENTEE BALLOTS. Normally, these ballots amount to 8-10 % of the vote in Florida. This time around it is over 20%. Little Brother Jeb, knew that George would have a fight on his hand. Absentee Ballots are made for FRAUD. It is easy to line up people and have them fill out ballots for a can of beer or a pack of cigarette or other types of mind altering
stuff.

If Gore is not given the election by the re-count, the Absentee Ballots will be challenged. Get ready to discover MAJOR FRAUD. Take my word.

>> As an American, I can tell you that nothing is wrong with our voting process <<

The facts that (i) a guy who received half a million votes more than the other guy but isn't elected, and (ii) you don't have a result 3 days later, and may not have a result 2 weeks later, doesn't strike you as, well, a little deficient?

I'm sure you don't think there's anything wrong with it. However, the rest of the world will draw its own conclusions :-)

Greetings Dr. Woland,

It is not my intention to defend the system.
I just want to tell you why we have the Electoral College.

The Founding Fathers knew that large population centers would fight for their own
interest and the politicians would listen to
their voice. They wanted to give a voice to
places like the DAKOTAS, WYOMING, IDAHO, etc,
etc. For this reason they created the Electoral College. It is a small voice, but it is very important during close elections.
With all the modern communication methods, it is no longer as important as it once was.

The problem is not with the Electoral College. The trouble is Money. Basically the Republicans represent the RICH and BUSINESS.
The working people can not match their money,
therefore their voice is not heard. The Founding Fathers forgot about the workers and the poor.

Nice to have you back.
