Their duties will include:

-keeping posts on topic
-creating new interesting posts for member participation
-welcoming and helping new members

If you have any questions regarding their appointment, then please feel free to contact me: boards@russia.com, or post in the feedback forum.

We hope that all members will use this opportunity to welcome ILay and Dr_Woland, or introduce yourself if you do not already know them.

Thank you,

I'd like to say a big "privet!" (="hello") to any members who don't know me.

My role as Moderator is exactly as Admin have outlined above - neither more nor less than that. I will also be impartial - I'll intervene - if needed - on any posts which clearly break the rules... even if I agree with the poster!!

If you ever disagree with anything I may have done (or you think I've done) feel free to email me - I check my email at least twice a day.

I'll try to follow the great example which has already been set by ILay here. My job in this little "Saloon" is not to make the rules - the Boss does that... but to sweep-up the place, keep it clean, and as someone famously did in the movies... "to keep six-shooters off of Main St".

Enjoy using Russia.Com

Dr W.

Oh, and I guess you have a right to know who this guy is, anyhow...

My real name is Neil, although I've used the "Dr Woland" handle for so long that it's sort-of stuck. I'm a Brit, I'm 41, and I live here in Moscow. I work in the Travel biz. I was educated in my home country of UK, and after starting life in an entirely different profession, have been working in and with Russia since 1984. I also do some part-time Lecturing here in Moscow at a tertiary-level Academy, and I'm a contributor to guidebooks - occasionally also magazines, newspapers and radio.

[I am not any kind of "Dr", by the way - the nickname comes from one of the characters of a favourite book. He isn't a Doctor either - it's a pseudonym for him too :-) I did not choose this "nick", either - it was given to me elsewhere in the cyber-world.] My hobbies are music (classical/pop/rock/world), theatre, computers, trying to learn Russian properly at last, cookery, and - when there's the time and weather - trekking/rafting in Siberia.

Dr W.

Woland as a MODERATOR? Interesting...I suppose this speaks volumes about the alleged fairness and objectivity of the people running Russia.com and monomanics in general.

Sincerely, Ronbo

Dr_Woland:

My most heartfelt congratulations on your new assignment. I think I know of the tribulations you are going to be faced with, but your spirit and solid character will speak for you.

I had made a New Year's resolution: To be more tolerant, even of proven fools. So my vitriolic postings will be very low key.

Nonson:

Since your elevation to Mount Olympus, canonization, Hall of Fame etc. by worthy contributors to this Board, would you consider throwing you name on the ring for a Moderator's spot?
I feel that your support and expertise in Cannon Law, Philosophy, and the many aspects of Humanities will mark you as a prime target for the job.

Please consider applying for the job.

Oca
