Dr_Woland,

I had relatives there, so I visited with them whenever there was a chance.

to BenCA

It's not so much Siberia itself, but that particular place - there is an atmosphere of serenity and peace which emanates from it. I like NYC too, although I'm not sure there is much serenity there

I've never been to Northern Sweden. Can you see the Aurora Borealis from there?

I watched NYC celebration on TV, and it was beautiful...
I was born in Siberia, but I don't remember much about siberia. I only know what my parents told me, maybe someday i'll visit the place where i was born

Would loved to have been on top of the Continental Divide in Colorado watching the sun set on another year.

Instead, was home in Texas, watching NYC bring in the New Year. Beautiful.

Any idea where in Siberia your family origins lie? I love the place myself :-)

Dr. Woland:

Wow! No, I haven't heard such proverbs.
I am being "flung" into the Russian experience (will be on May 6th) and still don't know a whole lot...

Have any more neat proverbs?

For New Year's Eve I would have loved to re-visit Moscow, St. Petersburg and Cairo, or at least any of the above.
