Well, we have all just recovered from welcoming the New Year. What would you have preferred to do, than what you ACTUALLY did? If you could be in your favourite place in the world (money no object) to greet the New Year, where would that be?
My own two co-favourite places: i) the Ivolginsky Monastery, Ulan-Ude, Buryatia, Siberia ii) Ballachulish, Fort William, Scotland Dr W. |

Dear Woland:
My favorite places? 1. Yorktown, Virginia - where we Americans defeated the Brits in 1781. 2. New Orleans, Louisiana - where the final score was 15 American KIA to 1500 British KIA in early January, 1815. Did you ever hear "The Battle of New Orleans" by Johnny Horton? It was a hit in the USA in the early 1960s..... |

My favorite places are northern Sweden and suburbs of St.Petersburg.
There is a nice New Year picture published by NASA. It shows Earth during the New Year night, with a lot of lights from all the cities. http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ima...s_dmsp_big.jpg |
