Fair enough, Voyager. No, Im not offended, I like when people speak their mind. I agree with you on Muslim hypocracy. Its horrible. They like to complain about US ( Whiling living in US too ) but are quiet about various ugly motherf@ckers who are raping this amazing religion.
as for the auto-defend mode, - its natural. we all believe in God and in our faith, yet that doesnt stop us from hating/disagreeing with the way this religion is taught in some "islamic" states. im not too hot on taking sides of America or Muslim world on this, so I usually spur criticism of both. I dont ally myself to anyone or anything, the only things I trust in life is my faith, and my family. everyone and everything else is conditional. i hate patriotism or dumb and blind faith or conviction.
I doubt that I can convince you of my sincerity, but even though my assesment of Islam is that Dean Koontz, or Tom Clancy could have created a better framework for a religion than Mohammed did,
No, I think you're sincere. But I disagree with you on one issue, - Mohammed never created the framework for anything. He was just a man who passed the revelation into a book. He himself, and his life, are insignificant in the context of Islam. He had a mission and he did it, out and over.
Framework worked well for centuries but eventually got corrupted. I believe it will be restored. Christians had their dark ages too after all.
It just REALLY gets me fired up when I see how modern Islam defends even it's worst criminals under the notion of religious solidarity and self protection.
Dont confuse hypocracy with general concern for an impression about Islam. I see that society in America is still very ignorant about Islam and all that's being pumped out breeds lot of hate crimes. Me bashing religious clerics does not do anything good for Islam. We agree that extremism is bad, but what we dont agree on yet, is that genuine Islam is not violent. Until Americans in general understand Islam, Muslims will continiously both criticize and praise Islam. there's too much emphasis on "evil" Islam. someone has to stand up and counter that, because media today is sure not balanced.

Rain,
Thanks for the reply. I think we agree on more than a few points, and I don't want to let the opportunity for discussion pass. It's almost 4am here, and it's too late to get on a roll, so I wish you a good night, and I'll pick up on this thread in the evening.
