i have seen talks in the forum about giving up one's citizenship in order to get whatever citizenship one wish to obtain. do i just have to renounce my citizenship so i can get another one immediately afterwards?

and btw, im a british citizen from hong kong, which i really hate... i would do anything to get my hands on a german passport..

Hello Derdug,

I never fully understood how that transfer of Hong Cong to China worked.

I was there in 1959 before your industeral explosion.

Sorry, I don't know anything about citizenship changes.

Hi

If you have clean police record why not just walk into A German embassy and ask them directly? I would think they are represented in Hong Kong.

In the US they make you jump through all sorts of legal hoops.Tonns of paperwork.... Total aggravation and waist of manhourrs...
If you're a Brittish citiezen, you don't have to give up your passport, just go to the nearest German consulate, get yourself a visa, and go there. If you like it there and find yourself a good job, they give you a permanent residency. You can live there and still be a Britt.

PS.All above mentioned is a result of my own personal observation and in no way can be interpreted as a legal advice.

yes, even though i am considered as a british citizen, i'm not even allowed to settle in UK, let alone europe itself. that is why i just want to burn my british passport when in name i am a british, but in reality i'm not.
