The Euro is very good for tourism from US and Canada esp.
It made my stay in Germany much more...smooth.
yep,its true,Euro has helped a lot the tourism of European countries....there are EU countries which after the establishment of Euro, they had increase in their tourism more than 100%!
So you're saying that some people will actually choose against going to a country if they have to change thier currency. I don't think so.

As a tourist I would prefer to use different money, that's what touring it's all about.

In conclusion, I agree there are more benefits to having the euro than not. I guess I'm just suffering from nostalgia.

C-Force, are you from Czech Republic or Slovakia? I share that nostalgia feeling. I stayed a few days in Prague in 1989 and I still keep somewhere a few coins as a souvenir St. Charles (Or Karlz?) bridge, Vltava flowing underneath, the huge Cathedral, Schveik the Hero, 15 years passed but I still remember it and I wanna visit again. Oh and almost missed mentioning the taste of Pilsener Beer. BTW, the writing on the stamp from your sig-line is fully understandable to any Russian speaker: "Chekho-Slovakskaya Voiska na Rusi".

Marcelle, I meant it, I know how they feel 'cos I worked with French about six years

Cheers.

Lol! You like the FOREX do you?

I understand the nostalgia thing though, but what I think makes Europe so beautiful is the different feel and athmosphere in every country!

That's exactly how I feel about Europe, Scandinavian. I don't want the pound being replaced by the Euro, it'll make Britain even more of a slave to Brussels, which is not good.

There are only a number of countries that I have the desire to travel to. The currency is not a factor at all.
As I stated, having the Euro in place while staying in Germany made my time there much easier. My German is near non existant so. I could not imagine being at a point of purchase and trying to figure out what I need to pull from my pockets.
I wanna be out enjoying the people, sites and sun...not stuck somewhere making an idiot of myself
In conclusion,I agree there are more benefits to having the euro than not. I guess I am just spoiled

Maybe you prefer to use different money, but the majority of tourists doesnt. Its much more easier for a European to travel in many EU countries, without needed to change his money. He is starting his tour with Euros in his wallet, and he knows that he can pass borders,he can travel to the whole Europe with the same money, and with no problems.

Using the same currency in a foreign country, makes it impossible for someone to fool you in trades, makes your visiting unbelievable comfortable and enjoyable, since you dont have every time to think about prices, money spending, etc.

Same goes for the American tourists which are visiting Europe.Euro has made it much more easily for Americans to visit Europe. And this because Euro and Dollar have almost the same value.

Since the Euro currency has almost the same value with the dollar, an American tourist will prefer to visit a country which has Euros of course, rather than a country with a currency totally unknown to him.

Yes I prefer to use dissimilar currency. I'm just saying that the euro is not the only thing that attracts tourists. I already agreed there were more benefits to having the euro than not, so you don't have to explain that. Yes the euro makes it easier for tourism but it's not what brings 'em in.
