Enlighten me guys...

How could any artiste fake his/her death?
I mean don't they lose their assets and royalties too?

Either he was willing to sacrifice all that or he just loves to feel the pain...
all that "hard" work gone to waste.

If Andy died intestate (without a will), the family is screwed.

But most people have either a will or a living trust. That means, the Estate (the duly appointed Executor/Executrix)takes the place of the actual person.

Here's an example. Columbia Pictures (many years ago), was making another Dracula movie, after Bela Lugosi's death. Lugosi, as you know, portrayed the legendary vamp. And we all know he put his personal spin on it with his colorful speech pattern, i.e., "I vant to such your blooood."

Well, Columbia (for whom Lugosi had made the Dracula pictures) had instructed the new actor portraying Dracula to utilize that exact speech pattern. Lugosi's estate sued Columbia because they claimed that THAT particular characterization of Dracula was the the property of the Estate. And they won. So to this day, you will NEVER hear an actor portraying Dracula with that particular persona...unless, of course, it's a movie ABOUT Lugosi and even then, the Estate gets paid.

Now, while this is more of an ownership argument, it does go to show that Estates are all powerful.
