Red face

OK.. Please correct me if I am wrong.....
The unfortunate people that suffered losses in life, or families life, or loved ones life... Was a terrible thing.....But All the wonderful people and groups in the country have taken up millions,(if not billions) of dollars to help them out in their loss.(Of course, A loved one cannot be replaced with money)
Now we are getting the recipients of this money, wanting the Government to put in as well... they are not happy with the generosity of the people. Once again, you can tell who is waiting for handouts...... It would be stupid to put our tax money in another form or "reparations" ....... AS I said, the loss to them is terrible, but If we agree to pay them above and beyond what was actually given by the fundraisers(i.e our wonderful, caring people), we are going to have to reconsider all our losses.. As in the USS COle, THe Embassy's. THe first WTC bombing.....and the Oklahoma City bombing.
I am not cold hearted at all!! Loss of life is terrible.....But it is not possible to pay everyone that ever suffers loss of life in their family.

I agree as well. In addition, in some way it seems like the wrong time to be money hungry..as a result of the death of a loved one. And what about the loss of life of others in other disasters? Are their losses less tragic and less important?

Dix,
Re-examine that statement.
Who's against tort reform? Of course the trial lawyers are as well as the Democrats. But aren't they (for the most) one in the same?

have a great one,
John

I think I understand what Legs is trying to say. This is going to set a precedence.

What needs to be remembered that this was not done for those who died in WW-I, WW-2, Korean War, Vitnamese War.

Are we going to do this in all future instances? I think that Congress is feeling guilty for the Foreign Policy that brought this on the innocent American Public. That is why they are trying to bend over backwards.

Or for feeling guilty that Klinton didn;t have the berries to go after Bill Laden the first time around.

Point taken John... it wouldn't be right to count 'em twice.

Guilty or ashamed....
Dix,
We all know where Clinton kept his berries stashed.

"Count 'em twice". I wonder sometimes why we have to count them at all.

have a great one,
John

To a certain extent, I agree with Legs; however, the families of victims of "the recent tragedies" WERE promised funds. This doesn't strike me as immoral or unfair, since these familes lost their major sources of income, and for those who are now forced to raise their children single-handedly it will be hard to make enough money to maintain their homes without help. Nor do I believe that they have been paid excessive amounts of money and are asking for even more, now from the government; most of the money people donated, assuming their contributions would support people who lost relatives on September 11, did not serve such purposes. The Red Cross obtained most of this money and is, like any other, a business which puts itself first.; the victims were given virtually no money.

It is also rather revealing that great quantities of blood were donated after the incident, apparently even "too much" blood; over half of it was thrown out by the Red Cross.
