CitySlideDownCrapper 1/4/02 9:50am Post Reply News just in: CitySlide staff give up on CitySlide to concentrate on CityMax. CitySlide officials have given up all hope of fixing the problems on Cityslide to concentrate on CityMax: the pay site system. Preferring to make pots of money they have all devoted their time and resources into CityMax and let CitySlide suffer dramatically. One could even state that CitySlide is a trial run for the pay sites to see what problems may occur. then to be ditched when CityMax is launched. CitySlide has been dogged by image problems, slow servers and load balancers during the past few months and with no sign of them ever getting it right. CitySlide users have left in droves and those that haven't are livid at the blatant incompetence of the CitySlide staff. I would rather keep my 30 bucks than give it to the idiots that can't even run a basic free site service! This reporter would advise people to leave, this has gone on too long. Lets say enough incompetence and all go to Angelfire where THEY allow animated Gifs and server space! |

Yes, it is the same people. My own opinion mirrors that of the author of the post. CitySlide used many people to build a following and get advertising dollars. Once the money was available for the pay site, they dumped those who helped get them there. There are hundreds of outraged members who may not take it. Anyway, paying the business $30 on a promise doesn't appear to be a thing sensible people will do.

They are not the only ones doing it. I had a site at homestead for a few months when they started sending me the paid version ads. I never replied and I don't know if I even have it any more. What are good web hosts out there? I would pay for one that works and no tricks.

Without a doubt CitySlide is not the only businesses guilty of this sort of rip-off. The differences here is that they took advantage of a large number of children to get where they are. That usually leaves a foul taste in the mouths of principled business people. The image created by doing what they did is that of crooks. No decent person wants a part of such an operation.
It is hard to believe that a conducting of business in such an immoral manner is conducive to building confidence in the company's promises. There is absolutely nothing to gaurantee that the same conduct will not be part and partial of their paid sites. The odds are that it will be since it appeared to work successfully on the non-paid sites. |

In the business world that practice is called Bait and Switch. In many states of the U.S. it is an illegal activity. Over the last few years there were repots that the FCC were investigating such things. Maybe they will put an end to it.
