David T. Schwartz surrendered his medical license for a minimum of one year after the Virginia Board of Medicine found that the urologist posed "a danger to the public health and safety." The board cited 14 patients whom Schwartz had mistreated, including two who died and another, Stanley F. Williams, who had to have his penis amputated.
Schwartz can get his license reinstated, however, and did so successfully once before. It had been yanked after he pleaded guilty to felony tax evasion and served time in prison. "There isn't a doctor out there who hasn't made some mistakes," one of Schwartz's lawyers said.
