Unhappy

I just wanted to make a quick point so I don't have to keep saying the same thing over and over again.

Bill Gates stole the basis for Windows from Steve Jobs - the guy who started Apple. Jobs was the one who came up with the Graphical User Interface [GUI] on which Windows is based. Gates "borrowed" the idea from Jobs and expanded on it to make Windows. Jobs sued Gates but the suit fizzled out.

I hail Gates as an incredible talent and pioneer in the early days of computing, but let's give credit where credit is due.

I am not so naive that believe the business world to be a CareBears world of fun and love. It is a shrewd realm of predator and prey. Fairness is seldom mentioned and squishy feelings are non-existant.

Did you see the movie where Bill Gates like character was portrayed as so Evil, I think the movie was called "Startup.com", but I am not sure. He was played by the same actor from Shawshank redemption, drawing blank on his name right now, the one that lives with Susan Sarandon. Anyway, he looked exactly like Bill Gates, and he was evil and ruthless, he killed people who came up with competitive software.

That's not true, Apple's GUI was based on an earlier system called WIMP (made by Xerox), which I think was based on yet another system (a development environment for some old programming language, now extinct).

I've never heard of this before...

His only talent is being a good businessman -- Microsoft software isn't exactly top quality...

msdos got pcs rolling. Ibm chose it over another program because the creators of the other program were "out to lunch" so to speak.

Bill Gates and others created msdos. That operating system started the pc revolution as ibm massed produced pcs.

Bill Gates "stealing stuff" from jobs or others can be debated but I think a better way to think of it is "improving" a previous technology.

Have you guys heard of "reverse architecture"? That is what started the pc clone business and companies like compaq and dell. Did they steal other's technology?

Perhaps some of these innovators "borrowed" others technology. Most of them have enough money to not worry about getting more by filing suit against others.

I try to "steal" Tiger Wood's golf swing. Tiger still swings better than me even though I keep trying to steal it.

That's it!! Thank you! You are correct. That's the one. I liked it, but Bill Gates character was too Evil.

Tim Robbins is the actor, thanks, Harry, I haven't seen him in anyhting recently, couldn't recall his name right away.
