Russia is not the same as the Ukraine. The Ukraine was a part of Russia and then a part of the Soviet Union for a long time. But since 1991 it is a sovereign state. There are many things in common between Russians and Ukrainians. Many Ukrainians still speak Russian as a native language. But the government made a law which says that the Ukrainian language is a firs state one and everybody should know it and most lessons at schools are given on Ukrainian.
The capital of the Ukraine is Kiev.

I think yes.
the counrties are rather friendly to each other. Russia often helps the Ukraine to solve some economics problems. There are a lot of people from the Ukraine coming to Russia (esp. Moscow) searching for a good job.

Yes, Ronbo, we have the same here. But when Ukrainians speak their language, most Russians now need an interpreter. Ukrainian language sounds very funny for Russian people.
But in Canada people speak English and French. And if 2 persons from these countries meet they can easily understand what another one says.
