I think that canadians did and didn't deserve a gold medal.
How can you tell your judge that you're not happy with your mark? It ridiculous!! It like me telling my professor @ school that i'm not happy with my mark...not only that, but raising this whole press conference thing about it.... Russians had it for the past 11 olympics and with have it for the next 111..There is some great skaters out there but everyone knows that they are the best in figure skating and cross country... ...Both of the couples had felt during their performance, but in my opinion russian couple was more artistic. Maybe canadian couple did deserve a gold medal but only before they started getting all cocky about it... Keep bubbling vic |

I still think only the Russians were the true champions. BTW, we have a thread about this in the Sports section. Do you follow the Men's hockey? It looks like Gretzky took some whining lessons from Sale and Pelletier. After watching his press conference I felt like Fed-Exing him a box of tissues.

I saw both performances and thought they were very good. The judges hsould have a system where it less personal opinion, and more criteia to judge by. This controversy was always there, remember Oksana Biul and Nancy Carrigan? They were both good, but Oksana was more artistic. The western skaters are not very artistic, Russians are, so there will always be resentment. Are Russians born with it? And whaat is it in the first place?
And the jusdes do prefer classical styles more than modern, so there is some prejudice. Did you see a movie "Strictly Ballroom"? The guy didn't want to dance "somebody else's steps", but dancing federation didn't approve. |
