I like sandwiches. I work at a sandwich shop. So you can see I have an intrest in sandwiches. I know of many kinds of sandwiches from around the world but the only thing I ever heard about russian sandwiches was from my anti-soviet-grandfather (his beliefs are not mine) when he told me they eat rasin and onion sandwiches. Is this true? I'd like to know what ever you can tell me.

In my experiences in Russia, usually sand wiches are open faced (one piece of bread). In them usually a meat, usually a ham, sometimes cheese, and i've always had cucumber.
But my favorite russian dish remains Pelmeni. |

You would be hard pressed to find roast beef these days. Most of it is exported, and what cuts that are available in the stores today are not the "roast beef" quality you or I are accustomed to.
There are so many chicken rotisseries popping up on every corner these days. Very popular. I have to keep mailing over "Swiss Chalet" dipping sauces all the time and the postage costs more than the dipping mix. Regards, LillyNomad |
