Smile No It's Not Different Enough

"The Telepathic Motion Picture Of The Lost Tribes"
By David Blair

A surealistic documentary about a bee keeper is the most
different movie I have ever seen. I give it a five out
of five stars.

I'm serious about that guy! He came to class with a paper bag over his WHOLE head, complete with eye slits and everything.. and it was decortated too, with some poppy flowers for rememberance day.. I figured he could wear whatever he wants to class.. then the next day I was going down a dark stairwell on campus and he was there! Sitting in the dark dreary stairwell. If I had not known it was him I would have called security.

I know a guy like too. He's a great person to be
around but I wouldn't want to live with him.

Jutka, very true

Even to the most casual get-togethers, Russian and Ukrainian men try to wear shirts with a real collar and without plad, presentable shoes (even if the shoes are old, they are always clean), pants that have been properly ironed..etc.. It's not about capitalism taking over your wardrobe or lack of self-worth, it's all about respect for yourself and others around you.

Irinka , Very True

In cultures where there is no pressed clothing, do
people have other ways of showing respect?

I don't ask this question to minimize your point.
People should be respected no matter
how they dress. I live in a society where
people in old pressed clothing are considered
losers. And the label wearers are winners.
When I dress like a slob, I really am making
a very loud "fashion statement".

Lomax, good for you.
I don't care about fashion statements nor do I understand the current styles. I'm old-fashioned, I dress feminine and neat. To each her own, correct?

Exactly Irinka! Feminine and neat is precisely what I meant when I said "dressing well" (in the case of women LOL)

lomax,
Being a full time university student I sure don't have any spare cash so I definitely don't wear labels. I just find clothes that look great on me, that are feminine and fun to wear! And I am just being myself the whole time. Just like you are being true to yourself too. You might not feel comfortable in skirts and high heels, and I can't step out of the door in old jeans paired with running shoes. The last time I left my house in running shoes was to play tennis. So as Irinka said to each her own.

Jutka
