My dear!
Firstly I wanted to write a very emotional message about your attitude to Russia and Russians (especially what I think about Russian immigrants, who adore crying how poor Russia is). Then I decided just to tell you some facts about Russia. I want to share with you my observations of what was happening in Russia last 10 years and what happens now in a short report. All of you know, that in 1991 Russian people got freedom from communism. Most of Russians were happy, but frightened. Cause nobody knew “what’s then?”. As a result, in our country had been found people, who tried to use the situation for stealing. When I say “stealing” I don’t mean stealing in darkness of night of real thieves, I mean that with the help of manipulations with low which was on it birth-stage in Russia, people appropriated state and municipality property. This chaos (in Parliament (Duma), Government, in low, education and etc.) was continuing for years, until the end of ‘90th. That was really hard time. Many of Russians immigrated and I understand them. Now the crisis passed. Our population became lower not only because of immigration. The fact is that when life is difficult and unstable not many people who have a very little prediction about the future dread to have children. The problem is that now we have much less children as earlier in Soviet Union and old people are dieing. You discuss much about Siberia. I wholly disapprove the idea of “poor Siberia”. Many people in Siberia have good money, may be more then you have. Siberia is a very rich in resources region. Another deal that the infrastructure in Siberia is on the low level, because it’s East Russia, far from the center, with bad climate. Of course there are some (and not little) poor villages and even poor towns. Many factories were closed since 1991 and people who depended on that industry have no opportunity to move to another city. That’s true. May we prepare to accept that the situation in some Russian villages or towns can characterize whole Russia? It seems to me – not. I have to add that communications in Russia are very expensive. My friend in Arizona pays 20$ per month for unlimited connection to Internet. In Murmansk I pay 100-150$ for unlimited Internet connection (depends on provider). You can do your own research in case you want to. Try to find out Russians from Siberia in ICQ or Odigo. You’ll find a lot of them, believe me. As for Chechnya – you all now have an experience of terrorists attacks. I’m of the opinion that American agony with this problem is just at the beginning. So there is no reason to judge us for Chechnya or we shall judge you for Yugoslavia and Afghanistan. It is easer to bomb another continent, when you can’t see who are there. For Sashenka: Please, kindly, tell me how many years ago you’ve been in Russia. I’m tempted to agree that every man can do his choice where to live, but I’m a fierce opponent of those immigrants who is bleating how bad their native home is. On my vacation in Moscow I met one Brazilian guy and he told me that he’s never thought that Russia is right opposite of what people abroad are talking. Think about, perhaps, you haven’t been here for a long time? For me future is here. … That’s all for torday. To be continued. |

Hi Shpulka / Sashenka, I was very much impressed by you & your patriotic nature.Mainly I am of the same nature.I was also happy that something in deatils about present situation in Russia.First let me tell you one thing - though I am from India,I have got tremendous attraction about Russia (you can say whole of earlier USSR)right from childhood.I am having similar attitude towards own country even to the extent that I am still not holding passport (I am 36 & now I have applied for the same),because of which I have missed two official overseas tours & I got the firing from the close friends & boss. But the situation worldwide is changing like anything.I am surely able to think much wider & this change has taken place because of ever changing world. As you have said it is very easy to throw stones at the others but do not forget one thing that when it comes down to survival stage then human beings behave in different ways.Indian scenario is also not very bright. You must be aware that India is having one of the best & enough intellectual capital in the world. Are you aware that most of the IT industry in USA (now it is in Europe too)is being run on the brains of Indians especially from 2-3 particula states of India.Don't you think this is a tragedy for India that these brains are not utilised by India itself? Whose failure ultimately is it ? What makes everyone to migrate or go out of country / It is nothing but money that matters a lot for most of the people. If you are content with whatever you are getting or rather if you do not keep very high unrealistic dreams then you are happy in every country. But certain really hot issues like terrorism, inflation, industrial sickness, global warming have triggered a different attitude in people.Their thinking is changed even I am not no more a exception.I am too thinking of migrating to New zealand but surely not for money but for peaceful life.Have you visited India/Specially bombay ?I should invite you here just to observe our whole days routine & you will find is this life? But suerly I am not grumbling for the same.Even most of the people outside bombay do not able to take it.What I mean to say that problems are everywhere but thinking that makes the difference. You & Sashenka are different levels of thinking & attitude. One has to fit oneslf in others shoe & then one has to look at the problem.I once again appreciate the way you aggressively put Russia's picture in front of Sashenka. She seems to have migrated out of frustration.Anyway one has to pull on as much as one can in their mother country as long as life becomes unbearable that is my opinion.Ofcourse I should put on one more point that one has to think of our children's future because there will be still hard days ahead for them.I hope you won't mind my participation in the discussion. Cheers, Sandeep, |
