Folks:
Hello. I am a Canadian born Macedonian who studied as an engineer and is now working in I.T. I'm 36, weigh about 95 kg (a bit heavy but I am working out) and am 175 cm tall. I have light brown hair and pale blue eyes. I am original, have varied interests and have a good sense of humour. I have two great loves which are difficult finding in a partner - church and the outdoors. I have travelled extensively and love to go canoing in the summer. I am also a practising Orthodox Christian - my church is great but too small and there are few eligible women left. If you're interested in getting together for a coffee, or corresponding, please e-mail me at sol210@hotmail.com. Cheers, JC |

Jutka:
Thanks for your reply. Do you know of a particular bar or club that would be frequented in that area or elsewhere? I live in the Broadview & Mortimer area which I think has a lot of Russians too. When I go grocery shopping at the local Sobey's, I often come across people who I think are speaking Russian - but always families it seems. In your opinion, would a single new Canadian Russian woman have any different sort of an outlook on dating? I know the mail-order schtick is a farce. Additionally, my impression is that many (most?) people who have recently come are atheist or uninterested in Orthodoxy. Is this true? Cheers, JC |

Most gals in Toronto who are Russian Orthodox, actually prefer men who are Russian Orthodox as well, they do not want to lose Russian and most of their families are large, so the continuation of our language is very important.
But you might be in luck, why not put-up an ad in the Toronto Star, see what happends. Just curious, why specifically a Russian Orthodox woman, why not Greek Orthox, Ukrainian Orthodox, Romanian Orthodox...etc..? There are thousands of the above-mentioned Orthodox ethnicities in Toronto.

Ivinka:
I am not solely looking for a Russian Orthodox woman and any of the other groups you mentioned would be fine, but I thought I should try something somewhere. The only problem I might have is with a Greek as I am a Macedonian of Slavic heritage and things can get unnecessarily political. If there are any Greeks reading this, Yia Soo! (Cheery Hello!) If maintaining the Russian language in the family is paramount, then I Guess I am S.O.L.. I can speak and understand some Macedonian and could probably pick up more of a Slavic tongue, but am mostly Canadian in language anyways (though I did learn Indonesian a while back). However, I must add that there often seems to be a very enticing way that Eastern European women combine intelligence, ability, and femininity. I find CBC woman journalists have a related appeal for me. Cheers, JC |
