If there are any Russians who want to meet in Houston just add to this thread. I have several Russian friends here and I like them. They would like to meet more as would I.

I believe in Yahoo personals or msn personals (there are so many of them) there is a criteria you can fill in, such as location and ethic, religion etc. I shall look into it and get back to you as soon as i know.

Hello everyone!

My names Chris and this is my first posting. I found this site in all my searchs to learn more about the Russian culture, to ask questions, and attempt to find more areas my fiancee can talk to other Russian woman.

My fiancee is arriving very soon, 25th of this month actually. I am 33 and she is 30. We have talked for 9 months now, I visited her in Ukraine (she is Russian though), and she captured my heart. She is a very smart and amazing woman, I have not seen her equal in America. I never thought I would find myself searching outside of America for a possible wife, but I did. Since I was already using the internet to search across America, then why not search the world? I have always been intrigued by Russian culture and I have very much respect for it, and even more now since my visit to Kiev and Kharkov.

Personally, I think the Russian/Ukrainian people are great, I wish American people were more social! I really empathize with my fiancee leaving her parents and comming to America, and I want to do everything I can to help ease the culture shock.

Any advice would be nice. And if anyone call tell me of Russian communities or activities in Houston it would be great. If there is any Russian/Ukrainian women on this board that would like to meet/chat with my fiancee, please email me, and I will connect you both.

Thanks for reading, and I hope to hear from someone. This is a great board and I have already pointed my fiancee to this website.

Hey, Chris. There are some girls on the Russian forum, who are from Houston, and I am one of them. There are 2 or even 3 Russian stores in Houston, two restaurants, and simply quite a few Russians who live here. You can contact me, if you wish. Also, there is "Our community" on the Russian version of this website. Your fiancee can find there some Russian girls in Houston.
I personally have 2 Russian girlfriends, and know some more.

There is also a Russian Orthodox church in Houston. It is on Tidwell between I-45 and Hardy.

Here is some facts:

The Russian church on Tidwell is ROCOR. ROCOR is not in communion with Moscow or the rest of the world's Orthodox Church's. Patriarch Alexi II of the Russian Orthodox Church and Metropolitan Theodosius of the Orthodox Church of America have made an invitation every year for ROCOR to rejoin the rest of the world's Orthodox Church's. They have refused. For the Houston area, I suggest http://www.oca-houston.org for the OCA. Other Orthodox Churchs include several Antiochian and Greek Orthodox Churches. There is a Serbian Orthodox Church in Galveston.

I consider RWGUIDE to be a disinformation site that advertises scammer agencies. They don't know their ass, especially about Texas. If you want reliable information, I suggest http://www.planet-love.com/wwwboard/russian/. The folks there are real and will give you the best info.

Many of us in the Houston area got together with many AM/RW/UW couples in Dallas and other parts of the country for a BBQ on April 6. We have a pretty good network going in Texas. I hope we can start having a BBQ get together in the Houston area in the fall. I have many contacts with Russians in Houston and AM/RW/UW couples.

For Dallas and the rest of Texas, I suggest you email Jack Bragg at nunya@ix.netcom.com. He was the sponsor of the BBQ in Dallas and has the most contacts.

In the Houston area you can contact me at:
blm2000@mail.com or Marianna Sandstrum at: marianna@kingwoodcable.net.

I'm Orthodox, speak Russian, and more than half my Church is ethnic Russian or Ukrainian. I live in the Houston area(Porter). Those who live in Las Vegas are clueless about Russians in Houston. There are more than 30,000 Russians in Houston. Most of them are Jewish.
