God defines Himself in the Bible as love. God is Love and the manifestation of love is compassion.

u guys, wake up! imagine what would Jesus think if he read all the posts over here. would He be happy? would he be pleased with His disciples? imagine His face when he watches one dear person that He died for yell at his brother...

hate, uncivil treatment, disrespect, and name calling- and while doing all this people suppose they are promoting His truth in His name. is this what He had in mind when for the people He loved so much that He died for them? is this what He had in mind when he told us to love each other?

and if u bite and devour one another beware lest u be consumed by one another [paraphrase]

Guys! i'm so happy to read my fellow Christians here. if only we remembered COMPASSION, being patient with each other's faults, we could have a very nice environment here to communicate and share faith and teaching.

and by the way, we've got so much work to do in the world, so much evil to fight...do u think we can afford fighting each other in the process?

we Christians are supposed to be the light of the world. if we Christians, brothers who have met God, treat each other like this, what do we excpect from non-Christians?

i myself am nobody to teach anybody, since i have a lot to learn and i'm just a beginner in Christ. any one of u is probably in the position to give me instruction.

the only reason that i think i have the right to post this is that i myself have never insulted or been uncivil 2 anyone 'in my whole history of posting on these boards', so i hope u won't consider this hypocrisy from my part.

luv 2 all, Evelyn,

Greetings Straighterway,
I would like to tell you that I have seen people of faith who were compassionate one day and total *******s the next. The compassion that is based on faith is often shallow and cosmetic. You test their faith. and compassion goes out the door. I think that real compassion comes from personal
relationships amongst real people. Kindness
along with compassion is what we need. I learned these from my family, my wife and my children. That's real compassion.
Good Luck

Dear Mr. Ungaro,

shallow and cosmetic compassion is based on shallow and cosmetic faith. that's true that u see too much of this today. and that's the impression u get about Christians. still, the real faith produces compassion that bears all things and that never fails because it comes from God. ex: the mercy of Christ which is the greatest mercy that anyone not only ever knew, but could ever think of.

I intervene just to say that Straigterway addresses those frequenters here on the board, who doesn't have a religion or opposed to it, because they feel their moral impairness and the way to compensate it
is to insult religion, insult those who defend the compassion which is possible through religios experience, who call names and label with the sole purpose-to conceal their own moral void and abyss of ignorance.
But if expressing yourself u feel that it brings you like u performed your duty- u won't react on those remarks, whose mean nature is evident.

Greetings Leone,
Compassion and kindness is obviously not one of your strong points. Religous zelots come and go. Not one of them is able to explain away the sorry record of the institution of
religion, particularly christianity. They are
more interested in the future. We are told in volumes of the bliss that will be ours if
we have faith and we accept one dogma or the other as fact. They insist on interfering
with the education of our children, they
insist on imposing religious teachings on
a secular state. Some even go as far as to elevate their faith to a super duper status, while denigrating all other faiths. They feed terrorism by preaching hate from the pulpit. They have been a curse on humanity
from the start. Yet, we are told that we should all join because there is another side
to all this. Show me.
Good Luck

Dear mr. Ungaro,

if u judge Christianity from what u see in ALL the people who claim to be Christian then no wonder that ur impression is that way. a lot of people that claim to be Christian will be judged by God.

u see, Christianity has a lot of enemies, natural and supernatural. what better way is there to mess up Christianity's reputation then to have some people pretend they are Christians and do evil in the name of Christ?
what better way is there to turn people's hearts away from Jesus?

this kind of 'Christians' truly are a curse, like u said, and are worse than unbelievers. and guess what? the Bible talks about this phenomenon repeatedly.

if u wanna get the real picture of what the real teaching of Christ is all about please read the Bible. where does the Bible teach to be hateful or cruel? where? show me.

--Not one of them is able to explain away the sorry record of the institution of
religion, particularly christianity--

well, i explained it to u the way i see it, the question is will u listen to me or say i am just another one of those religious freaks. i don't care if u do the later.

btw. have u heard of 'real people' [true, some of them are really kind and loving] but have u heard of them selling their houses and cars and going around the world to help the needy? or is it a curse too?

luv, Ev.

Greetings Evelyn,
Humanitarian acts I support. Unfortunately,
often these acts are connected to religious
indoctrination.
Regarding the bible being the source of hatred, please think of the following:
1. The attempt to forcefully convert people to Christianity is the single most horrific
event in history. It is still going on today.
The weapon of choice today is denigration,
intimidation and in some cases terrorism. The bible was and is used as the justification for these acts. The bible was
used to put people to death because they said that the earth was round. The bible was used to torment people because they said that
the earth is not the center of the universe.
The bible was used to fight integration. The bible was used to stop the Equal Rights amendment to the Constitution from being passed. The bible is used today to spread
hatred towards homosexuals, and they do it from the pulpit. I will be happy to be more specific if you care, but I think that you know what I am talking about. The irony of the whole thing is that there is a lot of good reading in the bible. Just like most other books it contains some interpretations which have no foundation. There is evidence
that there was a jewish carpenter who was
called several different names, one being Jesus. There is no foundation, evidence or
wide acceptance of the theory of Jesus being
Gods Son. Christians have used this theory
to attempt to dominate all other faiths. The bible is full of references to Jesus being
the Son of God. The bible is imposed on us as the word of God and used as justification
for all the EVIL acts above. Like I said it makes for great reading but it does not stand
as a doctrine. I have one more concern. It seems to me that the people who believe in the theory of Armageddon are getting way too close to the Red Button. (Atomic Weapons)
How do you see it?
Good Luck
