I enter if I may a simple point of view. If those who claim to follow Christ do not adhere to His teachings, how can anyone say they are of Christ(better known in the secular world as Christians). If I am a good man and teach people to do good all of my life, and when I am gone they lie and say I was the one who taught them to do evil. And others say I taught men to do good to each other, and we have transcripts of my teachings to prove it... how come you would believe that i taught evil, rather than good? And you would call those who did evil by my name?
Would you agree to this: only calling those people Christians who strictly adhere to the teachings of Christ? This would only allow you to argue against Bible passages(in context please) themselves rather than saying that "these bad people used the Bible to do this, these ones used it to do that!" Let me know HOW they used it to do these things, we could some interesting dicussion out of that also. Good luck!! :0) |

Mission010: while I deplore the use of rigid scientific models as a method of exploring religion, I however am not adversed to tightening the logic-screws a turn or two. Your proposal is based upon the fallacy that some other person is capable of accurately judging the works and words of another to any given degree of certainty. You are in error, and it is major. The imaginable contextual possibilities are really too zany to pursue unless one enjoys such things. >>>> It is posts like these that indicate(show)that you are still walking blindly in 'the shadows of the veils'. Again, there are but two 'tools' or 'ways' by which to enter within. "Straight is the way, and narrow is the gate that leadeth..." Peace

ok <deep breath>
they went to Egypt because the angel told them so [further away from Herod, i guess]. Luke was not the first one to call Jesus a Nazarene, but this is how he calls him in his book. no confusion. now, u r unjust to me. where did u see aggression? if u read me in other places, u would probably notice that i treat everybody with a bit of sarcasm. i thought u could take it as well. still, if u found anything offensive in my post, i ask ur forgiveness. offending people is not what Jesus told me to do. as i said in my first post under Compassion, i am a relatively new believer, not very mature in Christ, i have a lot to learn and to work on the Christian virtues, one of which is patience. if u believe me capable of saying anything sincere, other than trying to 'explain things away', then i will also tell u i corrected ur spelling not for the sake of the pleasure to ridicule u. i was just wondering about how familiar u r with the actual source. this brings me to confess that i have a hypothesis that ur data comes not from reading the Bible and making conclusions, but from special atheistic magazines or other media. do i believe in Genesis? yes. wait, wait, don't hit me yet, more on that later. and if the Scripture was proven so obviously totally wrong, then why does Christianity have so many followers [or those who pretend to be followers]. do u really think 1/3 of the Earth is that stupid? there's one fine issue tough. yes, the Bible is the infailible Word of God, in it's original. but, it has been passed on from hand to hand, rewritten, and translated and stuff. the only guarantee of the credibility of what has reached us today is that i hope God did not leave His Word without supervision and He did not let fatal mistakes happen. there's also something known as the Bible code. so i repeat my invitation- if there's any one of the 'million contradictions' in the Bible u r willing to put on trial here, u r most welcome to and i will not walk away from the anwer, i see i have also been unjust to u. u did not call Jesus a nazi and there was no reason for my indignation. Don't worry i will not violate the copyright. Dear Nonson, we have been making desperate efforts to restrain the bulldogs as long as possible. i would appreciate ur input, not only in the sence of correcting us, but giving ur own opinion. note that sometimes i have trouble understanding u, chiefly because english is my second language, i have only been in an English speaking country for 2 years, and u are in the habit of using sophisticated vocab. partly also because i have not read as much as u have, i'm just a student. luv 2 all, Ev. |

Greetings Mission 010,
An interesting concept. Question, How do we know what the actual teachings of Jesus are? I will give you that there was a Jesus. I will give you that a lot of the history from his time is documented in the Dead Sea Scrolls. All the things attributed to him are written by people who lived much after he died. Some of the things may be factual some of it are cretaed by imagination and editorial discretion. Further, I will give you that we must have something to live by. We all want some authority to look up to. Personally, I prefer an authority which is representative of our time. Something that represents our common values and common interests of today. I do not see any value or need for a spiritual authority from way back in history, real or imagined. What possible need could be for such? I regret to say that those who kling to such authority, are doing harm to themselves and to others over whom they have influence. I have asked others to show just one example of anything good coming out of Christianity in general. Individuals who depend on their faith are helped to overcome some of the trials and tribulations life offers. I feel that this could be accomplished much better by depending on professional help and by seeking help from those whom they love. Kindness and love and care can be gotten today, in a real world from real people. Having said that, I have no trouble with those who depend on Jesus or anybody else in the spiritual world. Until, they start imposing their faith on those who do not seek it. That is what this is about. Look around you. Good Luck |

Greetings Evelyn,
The "Angels" told Joseph to go to Egypt. Sorry, I did not know that he was using a Travel Agent. The Angels, can we get serious here for a minute. I am concerned for you. Now as to my sources. I have a Hungarian, German and English version of the bible. I also have the internet. On the subject of the birthplace of Jesus, please go to www. beliefnet.com/features/searchforjesus/birth/ birth1.asp Beliefnet.com is a very serious non-denominational religious site. If you are looking for Christian only stuff, it's probably not for you. I am waiting for your take on Baylor and Santa Fe. On the birthplace issue let us agree to disagree. One more thing, I do not quote from the bible because I question it's originality. Who are you quoting? Good Luck |

Angels: Pure desires, internal motivators to do that which is Right to all mankind. Egypt: seat of the IRREFUTABLE KNOWLEDGE of the MYSTERIOUS TRINITY of the HOLY SPIRIT. Going to Egypt: entering into the SEAMLESS ROBE of that TRINITY. As required by SACRED PROTOCOL, the birth-place is Beth-le-hem: the site from which the NEW COVENANT-ed would make its ADVENT. Nazareth: the site where the CONSECRATION of that NEW THING(see Lk 1:35...."that Holy Thing which shall be born of thee....")would occur. I hope this requested input helps to sort out the entangled discourses. Peace(salam)
