religion through evolution
Primitive man evolves and develops increasingly complex patterns of behaviour which help him to survive in a hostile environment. He finds safety in numbers therefore first small social groups emerge which in turn evolve into societies. He has a need to explain the world around him and having no understanding of the mechanisms at work in his environment or in the heavens he can only conceive of them as having a supernatural cause-they must be the work of some unseen deity. He makes sacrifices in order to appease this deity which in turn leads to the development of rituals and privileged priesthoods who perform these rituals.Hence within a comparatively short timespan religion has evolved as a result of the ignorance and superstition of our primitive ancestors.

If people are becoming more complex, rather than simpler, doesn't it make sense that there would be less poverty, crime, and whatnot? Then there is the concept of instant gratification. If we're evolving, why is such a basic thing so very common. Shouldn't we be moving onward to more complicated things?
