Hi to all the believers here. I've wanted for quite a long time to start an analysis of prediction of the "final battle" so to say, as is prophesized in all the scriptures, Judaism/Christianity/Islam. A post has been started on thus already, but my question is more specific, -

Who are God and Magog ?

In the Quran, it says that these are two communities who will rise against the believers, at which point God shall interfere. I do not have sufficient knowledge of the Bible, but I hope maybe our Christian posters can contribute their knowledge to this puzzle.

Here are some current theories on who God/Magog are :

1. Hashemite Kingdom Theory: The Islamic Nations will come against Israel either by an Iraqi-led, Jordanian led, or Turkish led coalition. The enemy from the north refers to the areas of Syria, Turkey, and Iraq. These Islamic nations make up the lands occupied by Magog, Gomer, Togarmah, Meshech and Tubal.

2. Caucus Theory: Gog and Magog are the Arab nations in an alliance with the Muslim republics of the former Soviet Union. This theory leaves out most of Russia, and includes only the southern part.

3. All Europe theory: Gog and Magog are the sons of Japeth thus the originators of the European races. Gog and Magog therefore indicates all of Europe.

4. Russian Theory: The Hebrew word 'rosh' in verse 3 is identified with Russia, 'Tubal' with Tiblisi or Tobolsk and 'Meshech' with Moscow, therefore Gog and Magog refers to Russia. This is one of the most commonly held views and is based on a different interpretation of the Hebrew word Rosh (used as a noun rather than adjective), similarities in the pronunciation of words, and the Greek translation of Rosh referring to a tribe of people found in what is now Russia.

5. Indo-European Theory: Gog and Magog include the nations descending from Japheth: Russia, the Caucasus(Turkey), Iraq, and the Islamic republics of Central Asia. The coalition is an alliance of Arab nations, Muslim republics, Georgia, southern Russia and the Black sea area.

//

Quite an interesting array I must say, yet they're all theories without sufficient proofs. I'd gladly appreciate more people coming forward and sharing their knowledge about Gog/Magog for purposes of possible tracking who they will be.

God is great!

peace,

Rain

Rain, I am aware you will be disturbed as a Muslim. But let me honestly show you what the Bible says about Gog and Magog.
The final battle is described in greater detail in Ezekiel 38-39. Here Russia (and the former Soviet Republics, northernmost of Israel, 38:6) -- Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazhakstan, Turkmenistan, Armenia --, etc.

Also listed: Persia (Iran) (38:5), PUT (Libya, Algeria, Tunisia, Morroco, Mauritania), and CUSH (African forebear, portion of Nigeria, Sudan, Yemen, etc).

Turkey included. Iran already has a treaty with Russia to co-defend in certain cases. Iran will gain greater influence in Iraq due to its shiite majority, now that Saddam is gone.

As for the sons of Ishmael and Esau (Arabs), their desire for Isreal to disappear is known scripturally (Psalm 83), and in history right up to now.

Considering Ezekiel was written in the 5th century BC, the list is very "specific" and impressive.

Oil will be the common denominator in this alignment with Russia.

"In number they are like the sand on the seashore" (Bible).

Interestingly, EGYPT is not mentioned. It has already signed a peace treaty and recognized Israel as a State. Anwar Sadat paid the price (death) for it.

Will Egypt be spared in the war and given the chance to see the Messiah and turn to Him? (Isaiah 19:25). Just a speculation!

Thanks for the input, Theja, no I am not disturbed at all, all we have are theories after all, with 4 more competing. Secondly, we do not know whether this Israel is today's Israel or the prophesy is meant for today or for another hundred or so years. ( or more ). I certainly dont wanna witness another world war in my lifetime.

I also want to bring Nostradamus in here, and his prediction of a "Mongol king shall rise, and Mars will rule happily ever after". Mars, the God of War, ruling happily refers to world war raging.

I wonder if this Mongol reference is to China, possibly?

Rain, you are far too intelligent to bring Nostradamus into this discussion. You can't seriously take any credence in one single word he has written. Those quatrains are garbage.

Keep trying to make Hister into Hitler, and saying that the Kennedys are in there. PT Barnum is loving it.

Thanks Rain and Castle.

Yes, I too cannot tell if this will happen in my lifetime.

The Bible says that before the end comes, many Christians will cool away from their faith. Meaning influenced by secularism, humanism, compromise on gay issues, living together without marriage, etc, etc. Plus those lousy employees of Castle (hehehe)...

Also there is a worldwide push to let the U.N. reign supreme, which the U.S has been resisting strongly. But things are changing. If the liberals take over the U.S. they will be too happy to hide behind the U.N. So if the U.S. weakens in that sense some day, the Europeans will be too happy to let the Arabs apply a final solution to the problem of Israel.

Who knows by then Russia might find a legitimate excuse to quarrel with Israel, with all the Islamic nations cheerleading Russia with promise of CANDIES (Oil).

Russia needs the oil:the Arabs needs the weapons of Russia. Mutual benefit and perfect deal. Sacrifice Israel.

That's my theory.

In my opinion, the scenario of the kings of the East is already fulfilled in Revelation 16:12-14. They all passed through the Euphrates in devastating Europe.

From the Dragon, beast, and false prophet --- THREE FROGS (plagues, death and suffering): Genghis Khan, Tamarlene, and Sultan Mehmet II (who conquered Constantinople and turned Asia minor into present day TURKEY -- culminating in the final fall of the Roman Empire in Revelation chapter 18).

Sometimes people look to China for this scenario because of its vast army. In 20 to 50 years, China will be significantly influenced by Christianity and might remain neutral -- neither join nor stop Russia in the final push.
