Why is it filled with blood, tyranny and fear?
I thought God is loving, tolerant and forgiving... Or is that only to the people of Isreal and Christians? Kinda biased don't you think? Did God not say, "Thou shalt not commit murder"? Why then does he promote the massacre of non-believers soon afterward? Is that not murder? (Noticed that my post got deleted so i'll mild this one up) |

I realized that just before I came to post here -> That it is the Old Testament which is filled with bloodshed and not the New Testament. None the less, they were the acts of God. For a being that is manifested in two different forms, he sure does show great contrast within his character. So much contrast, it becomes rather difficult to believe that Jesus is in fact the Son of God. Soon after the stories of Christ, the bible seems to resort to violence again in the Revelations. This time it is God's word in his spiritual form - or supposedly.
I'll admit. I'm not looking to reestablish my faith with God for the same reason I wouldn't spend my life looking for a mathematical formula that would prove the existence of a four-sided circle. I just don't find the concept of God logical or evident. What I am looking for however, is a better understanding of The Word. Not to reestablish my faith with God but to better understand the people that I share this world with. By realizing that the New Testament does not promote such hideous acts of cruelty, i've learned to better denounce this notion that all Christians are bad. Also by reading the Old Testament, i've realized that not all Christians are necessarily good either. |
