I think you are missing the whole point with religion. People choose to believe because it GIVES them something. Spirituality, reason for life, explanations, unity among people, morale and that kind of things. In fact we could probably write a book about all the things that people are given through religion, or God.

Everyone have their own perception of religion. For a scientific mind like you God could equal the Universe, or "everything". This way we could definitely prove that God excists! Thus we are part of God and God is in us. (Very few belive it's some guy sitting on a cloud anyway.)

Why don't you make a new God for you self and give him a new
name for example OGD or GDO or DOG and believe in him.
Because The God you are now worshipping has a very bad
criminal record, He himself killed innumerable people
in various methods, especially flood.
