God & Elephant
There is a story in India which goes like this:
Four blind men came across a good elephant. The first one touched one leg of the elephant and said, " Oh, an elephant is a big cylindrical object" The second one felt the tail of the elephant and said, "Oh! an elephant is really a wiry whip" The third one touched the tusks of the elephant and said, "Oh! the elepahant is made of two strong curved poles" The fourth one could not touch the elephant and said, "Oh! There is no elephant at all, you people are imagining" The different religionists are like the blind people. They are mentally blind and could feel only a small part of the true nature of God.They call it by what they have felt. The atheist is like the fourth blind man, not able to feel the God, says that there is no God! There is one true God.Different religions have given different names to it. People are free to call God by any name. But they should not politicize God for their own benefit! |

WELL SAID VELU
I agree entirely that there is only one true God. We don't have to worry what to call him , because when Moses asked God that direct question, God answered "My name is 'I AM' - GO AND TELL THE PEOPLE 'I AM' HAS SENT YOU"
And I also think I agree that we should not use our faith or our religion to 'politisize' others.....(not knowing exactly what you mean here.) What I will add is that this one true God sent his Son Jesus to show us who He was and to tell us how he wants us to live - and that Son Jesus then instructed his disciples "Go into all the world and make disciples of all men, teaching them.....etc" So that's what we do. Having had a lifetime of opportunities of sharing my faith in England, I am off to Ukraine in 2 days for a 6 day trip to support youth leaders there in giving a good summer camp holiday to 60 city kids. And bye the way....telling them about Jesus.....just like he said to do. Best wishes, Andrew

THANK YOU VELU,
Hahahaha - believe me, I'm neither a Reverend......nor a father (except to my 2 kids).......I'm just a guy who has lived long enough to prove that God says what he means and means what he says. And I believe that everyone should be aware of this.
I know I'll have a great trip.....and I'd be delighted to find an appropriate time to take you too. My russian is rudimentary, but I find that most kids are taught English in schools and the girls in particular are delighted when a 'real' English person comes for whom they can tranlate.....so I usually get by with a smile and some welcome help. The guys seem too worried or too proud to use their language abilities.....don't know why ![]() SeeYa Andrew

Recently the new Pope Benedict has lamented from the Alps,
in the vatican times, that "Christianity is dying in the US and other western countries. Sunday masses do not even see a 5 % attendance. People have become secular. Christianity has become a ritual rathar than a faith. The religion is doing better in eastern countries" Coming from him, it must be true. This only shows that as science and scientific reasoning takes hold of the minds of the people more and more, their belief and blind faith in an unproven institution becomes less and less strong. |
