There is an easy way to remember what it takes for a person to go to heaven, and that can be summed up with one word and that is FAITH. Each letter of this word represents something of the utmost importance.
F is for Forgiveness. We cannot have eternal life and heaven without God's forgiveness. "In Him (meaning Jesus) we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins" (Ephesians 1:7) A is for Available. Forgiveness is available and it's avalible for all because God really loves us. Remember the famous Bible verse "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16) But this forgiveness is not automatic, for Jesus tells us "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 7:21) I is for Impossible. It is impossible for God to allow sin into heaven. Even though God is Love (remember John 3:16), He is also a just God, for the Bible tells us "For judgement is without mercy" (James 2:13), and each and every one of us are sinful, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). But the question is how can a sinful person enter heaven, where God allows no sin? Well that can be answered with the next letter. T is for Turn. Question: If you were driving down the road and someone asked you to turn, what would he or she be asking you to do? Well, the answer would be to change direction. In the Bible turn means repent. We must turn from something and that is sin and self. "But unless you repent you will all likewise perish" (Luke 13:3) We must not only turn from sin and ourself, we must turn to someone and that is Christ, and we must trust Christ only. You see, the Bible tells us that "Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures" (1 Corinthians 15:3,4) and, "If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9) H is for Heaven. Heaven is eternal life and it is for the here, "I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly" (John 10:10), and the hereafter, "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and recieve you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also" (John 14:3). How can a person have God's forgiveness, heaven and eternal life, and Jesus as personal Savior and Lord. Well, another way to remember is to restate each letter of F.A.I.T.H. to now say "Forsaking All I Trust Him" and also remember Romans 10:9, "If you confess with your maouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God ahs raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" Understanding what was shared here and you would like to receive this forgiveness by trusting in Christ as your personal Savior and Lord, then you should pray a little prayer like the following (but pray it from your heart): "Dear Jesus, I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and that You aross from the grave. I now ask You to forgive me of my sins and to save my soul. Amen." And if you prayed this from your heart and were sincere, then congratulations and "Praise God!!!", you are now heaven born and heaven bound, and there's not one thing anyone can ever do to take that away from you, including yourself. And you can commit your life to Christ and so begin a wonderful journey of faith.
