To fight: To put forth a determined effort
To contend against
To tempt to prevent the success or effectiveness
of...

To oppose: To provide resistance, counterbalance

it is some what strange

Was Korea and Vietnam where us troups enguaged the so called enemy,,were they not communist? But the same troups came home to find communist in power in many high places in their own country, the liberal press doing the propaganda work for the so called enemy all the time.yet we did not blow them to kingdom come in our nation and the reason was our constitution protected free speach and assembly of the unpopular. Most citizens respected that rule..but the other communist nations would not allow their enemy to openly confront their power.those who resisted and defied the goverment during the Vietnam war was given amnesty by Mr Carter when he was elected at the end of the war.A better deal than the poor folks got,, who went of to fight in the war as ordered by the same government. But,,I sure thought those were communist..some said they were.

I personally don't feel that we fought the Korean or the Viet Nam wars for political reasons. Ideology was secondary to ecomomics...I'm walking on eggshells here because I am not versed in economics...however, my father is a Viet Nam veteran and a career serviceman and he feels very strongly today that the United States should never have been in Viet Nam. While my father was in Nam, I never voiced my opposition to that war. I felt that it would have been a dishonor to my father who was there at the behest of his/our country. He never voiced his feelings until he retired from the military.

As far as Solitair's comment about empty churches; if she is speaking euphamistically, she could be right. But I cannot speak for what is in the minds of the masses attending religious services. We are all victims of propaganda of one kind or another. Our challange should be to see through our own eyes instead of those of our religeous or ideological leaders.

before i went i was able to read many books by the leaders of the communist.they had planned to encircle and distroy the USA .from outside and inside.they called this wars of liberation..they were haveing a number of victories here and there, supplying weapons, technology and money. And advisors.I believed they meant what they said..<><><>There is often attacks upon christians..the liberal media takes a shot at them every chance they get.but they dont have a problem with the Devils helpers.Nobody seems to realize who they are..yet if you have children that grow up on drugs and get into the porno industry nothing seems to be wrong accoding to the media brainwashed public. There is worse things in this world that christian preachers and christians..Im my humble view..and in my bible,,it is reccomended to try to be somewhat a follower of Christ..and he does not reccomend doing things like getting rich of the backs of the poor..Nor a lot of things christians are accused of.It is not the ten commandments they teach in goverment schools.W have big problems with crime and drugs in the USA..Yet those who say our country is bad use christians as an example..Not the devils promoters.

Justo,
I am not opposed to any religion. However, my hackles rise when someone calles me a "good Christian." They don't know what I am and they assume by my actions thay I am a Christian. I could be Buddest, Jewish, Hindu, or any other faith. In my humble opinion, it is not just discriminatory but blindsighted to assume that just because someone commits an act of kindness that they are "Christian". And as far as the "empty churches" comment, I know that churches all across the U.S. are full to overflowing on Sundays. But where are the minds of all these people attending services to God? I have no doubt that many who attend services are truely good people...I also have no doubt that many practice an unworthy rightiousness.

i agree with much of what you are saying here..not saying,,for example, jews are not kind,,i have met those and they have been kind to me.and Bhudist seem ok to me but i dont speak the language of the Bhudist i met..(Didnt learn to spell it either.)If you look,,speaking of christians here,,at that bible,,does it say to do anything evil?i dont see where it does, but those in churches who do not abide by those rules are not examples to use as real christians.i am not near a perfect christian,,but i am better than i was when i was not.there is no one her saying bad things about those who do the work of the devil is there.?
just christians,,I have been around,,I have known some truely evil persons.and i have known persons who were liveing dead but returned to become christians..on the worst drugs liveing in the streets.but there were some who died that way..it was sad to see those waste their lives in such a way as that.<><>< MAYBE we should have a division on this board for those who live that way?I am no better than they are..but i am not liveing on the street doing crime to get drugs,or prostituion..Right there in Washington DC this goes on,,it was sad to see that.
