Zdrastvuytye to all!
First of all, I wish to thank Dr.W for providing me sources to understand more about situation in Inner Mongolia. Second of all, I wish to thank Mr. Cepguu for providing his detailed account of the events in Tienman Square. Those students stood up for what they believed in. Unfortunately, history was always written by the oppressors. I can understand why Mr. Ungaro says the Chinese people he meets blame the rioters. They are all fooled by the oppressive government in Beijing. We mustn't be ignorant of the efforts of those brave students who fought for justice and freedom. I sincerely thank you all for providing your points of view to shed light on this issue. Once again, down with the corrupt officials, but long live the friendship between the Russians and the Chinese!

I do not support the accusations against Dr. Woland.

to Chiukov & Mr Ungaro

thanks for your viewpoints - I've withdrawn from this discussion myself (I refuse to allow others to make me the topic of a diversion away from unpalatable facts). I am pleased to see that at least a few people here are capable of discussing the TOPIC, and not simply attacking people whose views they don't agree with! :-))

2 straighterway

thanks :-)

Dr W.

Thumbs down

Good evening to all:

This is my first foray at this site. It has been an eye opener, for I can detect the arrows of hate traveling back and forth.
It should be noted however, that the prose used by all principals is eloquent, pointed, educated and very incisive and that gentlemen unsettles me somewhat. Well educated individuals are engaged in a subtle but deadly game of words and ideologies that eventually will prove fatal down the road.
My best wishes to all of you litigants for a better tomorrow.

Dear friend:

It is flattering that after such a long time, you still find enough interest in sifting through those ancient records of verbal sparring. And I thank you for your compliments on the general leanings of the prose style, my own, presumably, also included.

I beg to differ with you on one little point:
why would you characterise such games as "deadly"? That seems too strong a word for me. I would agree that, these kinds of exercise could contain, like a raucuous wrestling game, some elements of danger, and should always be reined in by the participants with some degree of restraint, humor, and perhaps an observation of limit and boundary, but "deadly", how so? As far as I am concerned, the urge had not really occured to me to arrange a specific trip all the way out to rainy Moscow with the intent and plan of locating and physically harming my erstwhile oponent, at least, until I sensed some allusions from you to such a vague possibility. And God be a witness, even if such a highly unlikely meeting should ever take place, we might still end up having a beer together. A little bit of unrealistic optimism hurts no one.

I am of the opinion that, occasionally, life's less than agreeable realities could be made less so and more entertaining by a little bit of poking and stirring.

Is that so unsettling to you?

In any case, thank you, and you have a nice day also.

And to Old Friend Dr. Woland:

If you happen to be back (did you mention somewhere about going away?) from your contemplative trip in the woods and happen to see this post, greetings and welcome back. I hope there has been no hard feelings that's not long forgotten.

C. W.

My Dear Cepguu,

Congratulations on your extraordinary memory, I feel very special now.
You are right, and I stand corrected: The word "Deadly" was used in a symbolic style, rather in its original content.
My reaction to the "exchange of pokes" is ellicited from a long uninterrupted chain of negative news in the media.
I hunger for the day when the WHOLE WORLD is at peace, so our respective goverments can attend to the needs of the governed.

Thank you for your kind words.
