As if rising-up in echo to the latest fad for writing rubbish, "Mad Vlad" Zhirinovsky has leapt into print again (although at least he is using original material rather than old Star Trek stuff).

His latest, released to the Press yesterday, is to demand the formation of a Govt of National Salvation. He plans this party to unite his with Primakov's, and with, ummm, the CP of Zyuganov? He offers the other two (who have proper parties with levels of support which dwarf his own, regardless of what you think of them) a three-way partnership, and a rotation of leadership once per year. Primakov will start, out of deference to his senior age (writes Zh.).

The big plus (he writes) is that the Party has a good spread covering the totally opposing views of New Democracy, Old-fashioned Military-style Communism, and "patriotism".

In case anyone was fooled for a moment that this might be a momentary attempt at unity with the hope of actually achieving something useful....

... the first two items essential for "national salvation" are, ummmm (i) restoration of the Soviet Flag as Russia's alone, complete with hammer and sickle, and (ii) restoration of the Soviet National Anthem as Russia's.

All suggestions for new words for the anthem explaining that well, the Union's only got one country left because the others ran off and some are even joining NATO, can be sent on a postcard to Mr Zhirinovsky, presumably.

So far, neither Mr Zyuganov nor Mr Primakov have replied. If he doesn't hear from them, he might consider trying here - maybe he'll find someone to "assimilate" him at Russia.Com? :-)

Dr W.

Wink

Everyone in Russia know that Zhirinovsky is a bozo. What's this fuzz about?

Cheers,

Bart

Actually, the music is very ceremonial and
easy to listen to. Maybe they could change the words?
