No, Ron, the population centrum is in central Europe, not skewed toward Russia. Russia's population (less than 150 million) is rapidly shrinking. Furthermore social capital and infrastructure are skewed toward the West. The default working capitol of Europe-Russia is Berlin, even if some other capitol is chosen for aesthetic or political reasons.

Berlin is likewise the ideological capitol, and this is a significant problem as seen through the eyes of the UK and France. Peace

Thanks, Reza, for your timely interjection of material one might have thought such a highly-qualified "Intelligence" Officer should have known?

Nonson,

The professionals (engineers) who turn on your water and power are not "gee whiz kids." They , and the telecommunications experts, lawyers, agricultural experts, medical professionals, educators, etc...all designers of urban society, are the "elite" of whom Sato writes. His point about "no ideological divergence" is well taken, since the fossil shells of previous civilizations are only a sideline issue when provision of basic needs is on the line.

In Asia, the guiding models are Singapore and Japan, whose importance can be measured by looking at the ratio of global impact to size and population. Western Europe is another locus.

A citizen of Singapore, Japan, or Western Europe is at home in an educated milieu anywhere in the world, whatever might be the hue of local fossil beds.

In the maelstrom of power struggles, many rhetoriticians will make use of nostalgia and appeals to local belief patterns; however the power sought can only be applied in a disciplined form, hence the fundamental importance of professionalism.

Regarding religious themes, if you can RELATE these themes functionally to the real needs of people in the evolving world as it is, then you may have a basis to integrate them into the dynamism of the professional elite of which Sato wrote. Otherwise what you believe and say will not grip real issues.

Octavio

Octavio, if there is anything of which I possess a certain knowledge it is hedonism/transhumanism doctrines. Quite frequently I drop in to sup of their offerings. It has been a practice since the mid-80s. There is little point in using the doctrinal tenets of the NEW THINK on a forum such as this, for obvious reasons. Some months ago, I sought to point out the aversive nature of the current social organs. It went miles above the heads of the pundits then present. _____________________________________________ We are fairly knowledgeable of the accomplishments of the gee whiz kids. There are an un-ending stream catastrophes to remind us of that fact. Peace
