Chechnya’s Terek football club dedicates victory to Kadyrov

MOSCOW, May 29 (Itar-Tass) - Chechnya’s football club Terek Grozny has dedicated its victory in the Russian football championship to Chechen President Akhmat Kadyrov, who was assassinated on May 9.
Chechen Interior Minister Alu Alkhanov told Itar-Tass after Terek’s victory over Krylya Sovetov Samara at Moscow’s Lokomotiv Stadium on Saturday, “As we were fighting for the victory we thought about Akhmat Kadyrov who had done so much for the development of sport and football in particular in Chechnya.”
In his words, “By winning this victory, Terek players paid tribute to the president who died a tragic death recently”.
“I congratulate all Chechen people on this great victory which Terek deserved,” the minister said.
Alkhanov is viewed as one of the possible candidates for Chechen presidency.
