I need to correct you here.....
You do not just replace a US Marine, and there are not 10 to 1 there to replace this elite class of a warrior. If you would have said the US Army, then I might of agreed with you. But bedside the US special forces (which is in every branch of the military) the United Stated Marine Corp is America's leading trained killers. It is pumped into their blood in boot camp, and to unleash them upon anything is living hell for whatever gets in their way. One of their mottoes is "The Few, The Proud, The Marines!" and "Simper Fi", do or die!
I have heard of the awesomeness of the NZ armed forces and heard that they are truly disciplined soldiers, mostly for the very reasons you stated. I am glad to know they are on our side

Im not UK national. Im estonian.
Second.
My opinion is based on personal experience, wich allows me to tell you that UK soldiers are trained better than US and RF ones. Im not talking here about SF, Im talking about usual infantry soldier.
Third.
Are you heard anything about British Commonwealth?
Fourth.
Size does not matter. Smaller the army is more easier is to train them to the higher level. British troops are fighting since 2.WW all over the world and they are probably having most combat experienced army in the world.

And for the end.
If you are thinking that bigger army means better army then I agree that China has best army in the world.
But in my opinion better army is this one wich soldiers are trained better. And in this case UK beats every other opponent.

Perhaps the reason why the US army may be better then the russian one technology wise is because they stole most of the German NAZI scientists after World War II, and most of the early technology was just the NAZI scientists finishing of their work but for the US instead.

But I do like the russian designed AK-47 .

The Russians in WW2 surely wasn't as highly trained as the Germans. The Germans had the most effective army that time. But the Russians out numbered the Germans by millions. At the beginning the Russians had 20,000 tanks while the Germans attacked Russia with less than 5,000. Between 1940-1944, 36,000 T-34 tanks were built and another 23,000 T-34/85 were built in 1944-1945. And the amounts of PPsh submachine guns were 6,000,000. And finally the Soviets swept past Eastern Europe. Numbers don’t count?

Yes as I said numbers are not always decisive. As you said germans were ounumbered from the beginning of the 2. WW. But they still managed sweep through the Europa and take big part from Russia. This means that their army - soldiers and leaders - were way more better trained then USSR ones. If not then how do you explain this fact that the war lasted 5 years? Allied side had every number of equipment more then Germans. But they still managed last 5 years. You said that in the beginning of war Germany had ~5000 tanks and USSR 20000. This makes 1 against 4. And if we take into consideration that USSR tanks were in this time far better then German ones it makes me wonder how the hell Germans managed to get so far after all? Answer - art of manoeuvre and very good soldier and leader training.

Supposedly, one reason was that Stalin had killed so much of the officer corp of the Soviet Army during the purges.
