Best army
I do not think it is possible to say which army is the best, unless you specify which theatre of operation are you talking about.
Different armies will perform differently depending on conditions and enemy. an army in itself is just a instrument to achieve a target. however the instrument needs to be backed with political and national support, Money, etc. e.g Israeli army has been trained and raised to fight warm weather dessert battels, if you put them in high altitude snow warfare they will not be able to perform. Similarly some units of Pakistan and Indian army are trained for warfare as high as Siachin (thats the highest battlefield). they will not perform in deserts or close quarter combat. As for the american army, i think it's a dejavu. Americans will try their best NOT to engage in one to one combat. They rely on air power and technical warfare. that is why they fail in afghanistan etc. Some people will say that troops are cross trained and can perform different tasks; but only to a certain extent. No amount of training will substitute for local knowledge and native training. Think about this, a single cruise missile fired from US ships, costs more than a million dollars, the target it was aimed at in afghanistan was not worth more than 50 $. |

So it is the winners in Afghanistan that grabs a bicycle and straps a bomb on it then runs into a crowd of school children and explodes? As for me I am glad we waste a million bucks to pop these heroes with a missile.
