Why we cannot honour our fallen fathers, grandfathers and sons? Yes they served in German Army but I dont see any problem here.
About discrimination - this is wrong. There are no discrimination in Estonia. If here is someone discriminated then these are estonians - we just cannot do our everyday life in estonian, because all people who are living here already 45 years dont speak a word of Estonian language. This is true that we are hostile against Russian Federation, because we remember very good what Red Army did in Estonia in the time of 2.WW. And your politicians words show that they dont regret a thing what was done here buy USSR. |

Yeah, yeah
You don't mention the SS monuments being erected with government officials from Estonia and Latvia present or how SS vets can apply and receive veterans benefits.
To top that are the ongoing discriminatory policies against Russian speakers not to be found anywhere else in the former USSR. This despite the fact that most ethnic Rusians in Latvia and Estonia voted for independence from the USSR. And it's not like you all didn't have your own home grown Commies. Two of Dzerzhinsky's leading henchmen were Latvian (Peters and Latsis) and Estonia recently elected a high ranking Brezhnev era Commie as its president. |

Please give me facts. Only monuments wich were put on place with government officials opening it were statue for all who died in 2.WW. So thats false information.
Yes SS veterans recieve veteran benefits and I dont see anything wrong here. Please give me example of discrimination. Or stop giving false information. I have in my staff from 20 people 8 ethnic russians and I have no problem with them. They all speak estonian and are very good workers. No discrimination at all. About ex communists in our goverment. I dont understand the question. Are you trying to say that "we are bad but you are bad too"? Ofcourse we have ex high ranking communists in our goverment. And I see no problem here neither. |

If you justify SS monuments - why are you surprised by hostility of Russian people? We have lost 20 mln people during the WWII - so that EACH Russian family had father or mother, brother or sister killed of Germans, a lot of them were civilians. Justifying such monuments (while monuments to Soviet soldiers are destroyed and desecrated - see http://www.newsru.com/world/16sep2004/est.html, for example) leads to justifying SS crimes. So the hostility to you is quite natural.

First about SS.
As you told almost all russian familys have lost someone by german hand. Im feeling sorry about this. But same was in here. Almost all estonian familys have lost someone who was shot by red army or was sent to die to the Siberia. We have lost one tenth of our population for the actions of USSR. Ofcourse we honour our fallen ones because they did all they could to change this destiny. About discrimination in citizenship exam. There is no dicrimination there. You must know estonian language and history and thats all - are you saying that knowing official language and history of this place where you live is discrimination? I dont think so. Most of countryes are doing citizenship exams and I see nothing wrong there. |
