Marita, try harder to select more optimistic historic facts. Knights of Smolensk (legions of Smolensk) supported Poles and Lithuanians in their tremendous military effort against the Teutonic Knights and we will soon, on July 15, have another anniversary of brilliant military Slavic victory over the Teutons (it happened oin 1410 in Grunwald). I think Lewski tried to make us find brighter rather than darker historic moments...
That's right. But Michal_PL demands Kaliningrad for Poland, not me. I think a union of Slavs may be real without mutual historical accusations.

Are there really 500.000 Poles in Russia? I have some doubts about such numbers. If there are, where are their compact habitations? I have never heard about a problem of Polish autonomy but if it exists I think it may be decided. [/b]
these are unofficial opinions inluding Poles who chose to stay in USSR in 1945.They are probably strongly sovietized and russianized cause they don't have any state support and live not concentrated with each other.

There's a good sized Polish community in the Russian far east. The Catholic churches in Russia are inhabited mostly by ethnic Poles.

and naive Poland still goes on and on and on about their enemy, you gusy love each other don't you thats why tensions... but anyhow

calm down, and dont you ruin my topic, I did not ask for that, do not put yourself into the eyes of the other as a bad example, that slavic union can not work, stop recycling the history, and who needs borders when once united... for goodness sake...

hope to hear some optimism that is what we need not where should we position the border/s...

and if you are trying to bring the same issues please do not write here or anywhere else...

you need some realstic attitude,Lewski.Slavs united is an utopia which is a simple cover for Russian imperialism kinda Soviet union.
Borders must exist.Otherwise nations will mix up in all areas, some nation feels victimized or underestimated and then some new Bandera or Pavelic reaches power and starts to eliminate others. All multislavic states like USSR,Yugoslavia,Czechoslovakia fell down.
Michal, borders will still exists, I did not mean that we should become as one country...
Russia needs to be alongside us the other Slavs, otherwise we won't create the utopia we want, and this is a new utopia we are talking about here, it won't be cover for Russian imperialism since something like that doesn’t exists anymore...
and you wrote in your quote about USSR, Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia, they failed because they wanted to act independently like other powerful states at the time, if these states were united it would off have been different story and our future today could off have been much better, we could off still have the power nowadays and perhaps safer world elsewhere...
If Slav states start uniting one by one and become much healthier society with diverse Slav communities, Poland nor Russia wouldn’t deny it, nor stay away from it...
We all can surprise ourselves of what we can achieve and establish as Slavs...

Slavs together sounds like Arabs together - sweet but highly impractical idea

Marita, I would like to correct your statement by the way. Smolensk was conquered by Lithuanian Duchy and not by Poland in the Middle Ages. Poland had no border with Muscovian state until 1569! Even after Rzeczpospolita had been declared, Smolensk was placed within the borders of Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
As to the number of ethnic Poles in Russia, I do not believe that 500 000 is correct number. Maybe there were as many Poles before the breakup of the Soviet Union. Now, they are in Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine and even Kazachstan.
Kaliningrad for Poland? - no but I was really frustrated that Putin ignored Poland when inviting the presidents to 750-years old Koningsberg.

I am sorry, I was mistaken in facts.

The majority of Poles of the USSR live in Ukraine and Belarus. Maybe some live in Russian Federation but of course not as many as 500.000. But, what rights do you want for them? And on what territory?
