omygod,
I'll run my mouth as I see fit, within the rules of the forum. I don't recall declaring that you were Chinese. What I did suggest was based upon your own words, and my interpretation of them. Since most of us here do not 'know' each other in a handshake sense, we rely on what the other has written in order to understand personality and perspective. I think I pegged you right, even if you have only a fantasy understanding of China in terms of world affairs. If you are so sensitive as to take offense to what I consider to be a reasonable understanding of your position, take the time to be clear about your thoughts, and don't post silly nonsense. My Russian travel experience raised a flag about your lame observations, and Alex (being a resident of the region you denigrated) burned your fantasy view to a crisp. I have been offered a verbal slap down for being wrong here more than a few times over the years, and I take it by offering an appology when appropriate. In this case, you offered a fantasy view of the relationship between Russian nationals, and Chinese invaders, and expected everyone to buy it. When taken to task, all you can offer in defense is to get your panties in a twist, and demand that I shut up. That strikes me as a lame defense of your own world view. I reject it. Go back to the start position, and try again. Voyager |

just read throught all these posts; some of them naive, some of them emotional, some of them sense nationalism, some of the reasonable. well, to consider Uncle Sam as a potential ally as a Russian or as a Chinese is abolutely naive. US of A will do anything he can to boster his own interests. just like today in this society, if you were killed there would be no-one to cry for you unless your parents, your wife, your kids, all these likes. other than that, NO_ONE would even care about the death of you. if you believe USA or any other western countries is your mom or dad, what can i say except naive? every nation does thing on his own national interests, so you cant complain. if there was communism society in the future as they described, maybe it is another matter, however that is debatable.
i just cant help but sniffing the naive hope that USA will prosper Russia or China willingly as a caring father. it seems Iraqis, afganistans and Yugos understand his "fathership" better than us. Russia was a superpower, i would say not anymore perhaps, but still the only power can crush Uncle Sam. Chinese they may be catching up, still long way to go for them as many problems they have to solve domestically and internationally, and it is also unnecessary they will surpass Russia. |

There is no Russian migration to Baltic states now. During the Soviet era it was migration within one country. The Chinese migration is mostly illegal and is demographically dangerous. These are quite different situation.
I live in Moscow, in Siberia I have been to Novosibirsk only but this summer I am going to visit some Siberian cities.

Russians illegally annexed and occupied Baltic states by force which led to massive Russian migration to the Baltic territory. In the eyes of Estonians, Latvians, and Lithuanians, the massive Russian migration to the Baltic states was illegal. Baltic people had no choice because they were under the Russian gun. Now Estonians, Latvians, and Lithuanians are very happy to be rid of their Russian oppressors. All the Estonians, Latvians, Lithuanians I've talked to hate Russians very much, even Poles hate Russians. |

Poles are divided in their opinions concerning Russians
Quote:
Tiny states like Estonia or Latvia still have real resons to be afraid of Russia. Situation of Poland is quite different, though. Many young Poles learn Russian language voluntarily this time and have no prejudice against Russians who are nice people. The only awkward social problem is that Russians use vodka as a way to get more familiar with their Polish friends while Poles try hard to get rid of vodka as a national beverage. Sometimes it gets confusing when a Russian or Belarussian male strongly suggests drinking a little in a workplace which is really not done in contemporary Poland. |
