Experts Estimate Number of Illegal Immigrants in Russia at 10 Million

Interfax - According to experts' estimations, there are now up to 10 million illegal immigrants from the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia in Russia, first deputy Interior Minister Vladimir Vasilyev said at the conference "World Community Against Globalization, Crime and Terrorism" on Wednesday.

"The official information shows that there are 1.5 million illegal immigrants currently living in Russia," Vasilyev said. Among them are former students who studied in Russian universities in Soviet times and have stayed in Russia, citizens of China and Mongolia that worked for Soviet enterprises, and also people who entered Russia with forged documents, he said.
