This process of preparing a Life Experience Résumé is simple, but must be complete and verified by documentation. The following guidelines can assist you:
I found this helpful. This is a great opportunity for Creativity. Make a detailed and comprehensive list of all the experience you have had in the following areas: Work (paid or volunteer) Military duty Projects completed Seminars attended Specialized reading Non-credit courses taken Ministry positions held Any experience that involves working with people. (office management, teaching, etc.) For each of the life experience listed write what you feel that you have learned from each experience. How has the experience helped you to become a better person. How has the experience helped increase your skills, particular communication skills (writing, speaking, etc.). For College Credits: Determine whether those experiences should be worthy of college credit and express in a formal statement your justification of each. Provide adequate documentation of the experience including letter from superiors, commendation, awards, etc. It is better to have too much than not enough documentation. The documents should verify both the quality and the quantity of experiences which you have had. Organizing the Resume The resume should be organized in the following manner: Table of Contents Your autobiography. This should be a brief summary of your life experience, your marital status, and only a very brief mention of your family origin. Included in this should be a brief description of your life goals. For ministry positions: You could also write a biographical sketch of your own personal religious experience and present relationship with God. A section containing the information listed in section 1 of this instruction sheet. An appendix which contains all of the documentation and awards, etc., that you have received. Presentation Develop a cover sheet to go on the front of the resume. Include on this sheet: Your name, address, phone number. The following title: Life Experience Resume For (Your Name) Date This entire résumé should be Bound in an appropriate manner so that the pages are not loose or lost. We highly recommend a three-ring binder with tabbed separator pages dividing each section
