Oh you can? Jutka ?
Jutka,,Ask your science teacher to tell you where he stops teaching science to become the devils advocate. Then tell me how your grades turned out in his class.I have a respect for logical science such as used to make an airplane fly.The mistakes are obvious when you test by attempting flight. You either soar like an eagle or crash and burn. But today ,Much of the teaching has the effect of an ego pump. The subject along with logic is less important in evaluation than some failure to cross a T or dot an I.There was a very wise old graduate of Havard who returned years later to speak on this very matter.I do not recall his name I am very sad to report but I found the story in a stack of books from Columbia university.I hope to search out the story in the future as I was very impressed with the old proffessor. As time passes the educators forget that great things on Earth was not built by verbal skills but by great thinkers, planners, engineers and well expirenced craftsmen.I submit this was the case of building the pyramids.Confuseing science and black magic has become the trend due to the educators dependence on gifts by taxpayers for their substance.Let them step out into the real world and smell the roses so they can feel the thorns for themselves. They are becomeing artificial as the paper flowers in a five and dime store.

I would be interested in hearing about that professor too. I don't understand, however, what your concern is with spelling and grammar. Usually it is expected that by the time a student gets through a certain level of schooling, that these basics are well understood. Science is also very exact, and much attention is paid to detail... so why not pay attention to the style of writing and the details therein? Also, can you explain your first sentence or rephrase it please? I don't quite understand what you mean by that.

The appeal of science is that it is
in theory, a systematic method of knowing truth and explaining the universe. Therefore no topic should be "taboo" or off limits. Many scientists even in fields such as cosmology refuse to entertain the notion of God, scorning Him as "unscientific". Yet the universe exists, life exists, ideas exist. What is their origin if not God? So if there is no God, science should prove that too, accounting for the universe etc. "We hold these truths to be self evident..." Does "natural law" exist? What is the foundation of ethics? Does "justice" exist? Can you point to it? How much does it weigh? Yet many who adamantly deny the existence of God cry out for justice, demanding it! This same insubstantial entity is sought in every courtroom all over the world, yet it only exists in the mind of the believer. Or so run the ruminations of the humble tovarisch on this cold night.LOVE,T.

In the past, I have found that in discussing religion vs. science, I still ended up with inconclusive end results for myself, certain aspects of religion in particular. The topic itself is a sensitive issue to debate. Though I do wish to get clearer answers, I still have not reconciled the conclusions between religion and that of science. In particular, the case of the origin of man, the origin of life, and God. However, I do have my own set of beliefs and still searching. Religion is largely based on faith, while science is based detection and verification. Then again, science cannot prove or disprove God’s existence. A person’s faith is a religion can be very strong. For many people, religion was their first education, or their main education, and they accept it as truth based on their strong faith. However, I do think it is possible for a person to embrace a religion without the contradictions from science if he/she has such faith.

TAP!! TAP! TAP!! Class resumes,,Attention children!!
Jutka,,Why is it that the highly educated have trouble understanding simple Rednecks? We communicate daily and do incredible things.Have you ever repaired a Chevrolet Dynaflow automatic transmission?Did you ever look inside one?Can you lift one alone and stab it to the engine? 275 Lbs I believe.I used to do that for teachers who were trying to teach me English and spelling.I tried to teach teachers how to assemble A clutch pack correcly and get all those washers ,spacers, bearings ,springs and gaskets in properly. How to set the float level on a Stromberg carb. How to degree a cam and chart out the lift duration with a dial indicator. The advantage of flame propagation of the hemi over the wedge and how that ties into the fireing advance curve in relation to piston travel.I finally had to cull out a couple of teachers as poor students. My uncle had theonly garage in town and I worked there while in grade school. At an early age I learned that the most educated folks were highly dependent on rednecks for knowledge. They could talk impressive talk on many subjects but had to hire rednecks to get actual results. You may want to consider the lowly goose that has yet to pick up a book of any kind.He has not had much schooling in areonautics and navigation .I doubt if the goose can read in any language nor make a proper sentence or recite Shakespeare. But every winter they find their way from the far north of Canada down to Texas Gulf coast. As far as I can tell they do the thousands of miles on a very small to none budget. They also seem to fly in fog that our best aviators find themselves bound to the runway. I suspect that a goose can get along well enough without science but a proffessor needs assistance often. Can anyone prove that a goose does not have faith?
