For the "-alive-being-" death is not an experience therefore its knowledge is not in existence nor, by consequence can be explained, same for infinity.
The semanteme (unit of meaning) coming to completion of life is limited therefore infinity is unconceivable.The Human mind cannnot conceive neither death nor infinity -- however mind, in abstraction while dreaming can imagine both.

I live in State College, PA Home Town for Penn State University.
Basically I agree w/ you except I do not see myself only as a bookish scholar but a bit more inclined toward research.
And, by the way, me too, I had the unfortunate experience to attend the lengthy political presentation of Al Gore on Global Warming.
During the presentation I found missing some important premises and the conclusions were made, I think, only to fit his political agenda. This was done in my opinion, by altering with deliberate malice some final determination.
In fact the mentioning of the 1511 active volcanos and the (about) 1,000 eruptive activity of the geysers existing worldwide was not even mentioned.
The emissions of volcanos and the geyser gazers activity might be the main contributor to the chemistry of the earth atmosphere. And as I said, the seismic aspect of the Earth was not enphasized enough in the Global Warning's presentation. And this was done, perhaps intentionally, in order to bias its conclusion.
I am not confortable with the knowledge of those scientist supporting only the carbon/d in the atmosphere being adequate to predict catastrphes of biblic proportion.
What about the hot core of heart? the cosmic interrelations? the magnetic fiels, the sun etc?
Negligence? idiotic behavior? or simple political malice to prod and goad contribuents in dupe-shills-bystanders scheme to gather momentum on political lies.
But then, with dreaming all can be justified --right?

I enjoyed reading all that. I think that many like Gore do not care for facts buy only what can be done with random information that serves his personal use. If Gore really believed his own story he would not consume so much energy.He could serve his cause best by moving to a cave in Mongolia.Al the money he drags in was created by people doing just what he preaches against.
