Russian Black Eagle Surpasses America's Abrams

I find that article quite to optimistic. The T80U-M2 "Black Eagle" is just a upgrade on the T80U-M1 not an entire new tank.

It still has that same 2A46M 125mm maingun. The other upgrades are quite good and do a good difference. But that tank was deigned for South Korea and not for the Russian Army. The Russian Army has allready its new tank -the T-95.

The T-95 is quite impressive and superior over the Black Eagle.

The T-95 is featuring a new 152mm smoothbore maingun and is lower than any other Russian tank, making it way harder to detect and increases the crew-survivability to a incredible level.

Its superior over any Russian tank in any area.

and the T-95's speed and maneurvability is unsurpassed to any MBT around the world. I personally beleive that this is the best tank in the world. And i doubt a korean t-80 could beat an Abrams on the battle field. And at that time, the russians had the T-90, which is better than the abrams anyway.

I just hope we don't ever decide to try it on each other. There would be no winner. Much better to find reasons NOT to kick each other's ass, huh?

If Russia and the USA were to become allies and friends, maybe we could actually achieve peace. Once we get there, maybe we can find a way to STAY there.

Gee, I'm so glad you set us straight on that issue. If it were not for you, I would have gone on thinking that the current crop of US tanks were pretty awesome weapons.

That must be it. If India got 10 free tanks, nothing else matters. Those tanks must be the best in the world. After all, if America had the best tanks, they would have offered India 11 free samples, right?

I suppose that with the 10 free T-90 tanks, a handful of Sukhoi jets, two or three nukes, a sackfull of AK-47's, and a partridge in a pear tree, India now ranks as a cutting edge superpower on the world military scene.

Sorry for being a tad cynical, but it seems that more than a few people from India tend to base their choice of the "best" military hardware on the single issue of whether India bought it or not. That test might work for you, but I think the "best" of any class of hardware needs a little more to recommend it.

Abrams has very thick front armor (600-800mm – wow!). But Iraq proved Abrams’ vulnerability. This American tank can be destroyed by single RPG-7 rocket from side or behind. In one case M1A1 was destroyed even by 30mm shell. http://btvt.narod.ru/2/iraq533.html (in Russian, with photo). So, every Russian tank is able to destroy Abrams. From the other side, Abrams can destroy only old soviet vehicles like T-72 and earlier. Due to active defense system (thing that American tanks don’t have) and optical-electronic defense system (I can be mistaken in translation, in russian it calls sistema optico – electronnogo protivodeistviya), which allow to take guided missiles away, T-90 is almost invulnerable for American tanks and aircrafts. US were lucky not to meet modern Russian fighting equipment in Iraq. Otherwise, the fighting hasn’t been finished until today.

As for other aspects, Abrams is two times more expensive than T-90 and it's too heavy. Many bridges can’t bear such weight, and by itself Abrams can cross water only 2 meters deep (T90 5 meters). http://btvt.narod.ru/4/t-90vsabrams.htm

WE have and always have had the best tanks in the world.T-39 in WW2, T-95 now. We put the first man in space, we invented the radio. we are technologically more productive than any other country. BMW was even founded by a russian engineer! We just kick ass!
