well, um, string theory isint yet fully developed, the equations are still being developed, and the existing equations are being manipulated on.
and, the string theory actually aspires to change the whole damned way in which we look at things, from the very atomic level! its basically about vibrations.

neato stuff

I saw on a science show on TV that some scientists believe not only that the Universe is expanding, but that the rate of expansion is increasing.

There are I think 4 known forces in the Universe: Gravity, Electromagnetism, The Weak Nuclear Force (which holds electrons around a nucleus) and The Strong Nuclear Force (which holds nuclei together). Among these forces Gravity is the weakest - but acts at infinite distances.

So is there enough so-called dark matter to hold the Universe together, or will we fly apart?

yeah, Kyrie, there's supposedly an acceleration in the expansion of the universe...
Gravitational forces, though extends till infinity, are too weak forces for reckoning...
