Intelligent Life In Space?

Please excuse me for asking another abrupt question.

As our DNA has been dramatically altered by
pollutants, how will this affect human growth in an
environment like space and why the hell didn't this
"space genius" realize much earlier in his career that
we were poisoning ourselves?

This idiot thinks he must save the human race after
the fact that he and other greedy scientists knew it
was being killed. How can one that aids and abets
death ever hope to know what life is, let alone save it?

I would never put my life in such moronic hands and
hope he and all his colleagues get stuck in a time
warp so humanity will finally be rid of these parasites
forever.

Hawking says humans must go into space:

By SYLVIA HUI, Associated Press Writer
Tue Jun 13, 7:50 AM ET

HONG KONG - The survival of the human race depends on
its ability to find new homes elsewhere in the
universe because there's an increasing risk that a
disaster will destroy the Earth, world-renowned
scientist Stephen Hawking said Tuesday.

The British astrophysicist told a news conference in
Hong Kong that humans could have a permanent base on
the moon in 20 years and a colony on Mars in the next
40 years.

"We won't find anywhere as nice as Earth unless we go
to another star system," added Hawking, who arrived to
a rock star's welcome Monday. Tickets for his lecture
planned for Wednesday were sold out.

He added that if humans can avoid killing themselves
in the next 100 years, they should have space
settlements that can continue without support from
Earth.

"It is important for the human race to spread out into
space for the survival of the species," Hawking said.
"Life on Earth is at the ever-increasing risk of being
wiped out by a disaster, such as sudden global
warming, nuclear war, a genetically engineered virus
or other dangers we have not yet thought of."

The 64-year-old scientist — author of the global best
seller "A Brief History of Time" — is wheelchair-bound
and communicates with the help of a computer because
he suffers from a neurological disorder called
amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS.

Hawking said he's teaming up with his daughter to
write a children's book about the universe, aimed at
the same age range as the Harry Potterbooks.

"It is a story for children, which explains the
wonders of the universe," his daughter, Lucy, added.

They didn't provide other details.

I agree with you.

I read the report and did not attach much importance to it, because his idea of humankind migrating to other planets to escape gobal warming (70 deg C), asteroid hit ( die like dinosaurs), Uncontrollable virus causing pandemic like the bubonic plague, was too much imaginative.

I do not think that it is possible for 6 billion people to shift to moon, Mars,Jupitor etc., within 20 years.

May be a few peopel like Stephen Hawkins may adventure to do that.

I will be perfectly happy to live & die on this planet

I dont get it.The list of what will kill us all is the effects of scientist at work.So they propose to ship us all to another planet to save us .Maybe the solution is to kill all the scientist and go back to the times before the education system came in to being.

Now I don't think that anyone here is taking this question seriously - not even Sydney- who posted the original comment. To show those kind of childish tantrums and make such ludicrous comments serves no purpose.

Where do I stand ?- I don't think that there IS any intelligent life in space. I think to all intense and purposes, earth is unique. It does not deserve to be - it has no great place in astronomical terms, but I believe in a God of creation. God's top job was mankind - and we have successfully sought out any known kind of radiowaves and any signs of life for decades now - and been unsuccessful !! Yes - there are many stories of extra-terrestrials, there are many so-called 'sightings' and people claiming to have been taken away for days and all that stuff.

So I say "we are unique". We can play sci-fi as long as we like and it's good fun, but it doesn't prove a thing except an expression of the creative intelligence that God gave us all.

So you believe in little green men from outta space ??? - OK - so go back to Sydney again - he's got some good ideas

Andrew

Scientist like to scare taxpayers to get money to search for other planets with intelligent beings on it. Why would we want to find people smarter than our scientist? If there was they would put the scientist to work doing common labor. The big demand is for people who have ignorance and will work in convenience stores or fast food places for three bucks an hour.
