On March 29 in the year 2006 a total solar eclipse will sweep over Russia. The shadow of the moon will arrive (with a speed of 2000 mph!) from the Black Sea around lunch time, nearby the famous seaside resort Sochi.
After 3-4 minutes of total darkness, the eclips will move towards Georgia and Kazakhstan.

I saw the total solar eclipse in 1999 and it was an unforgettable experience.

This is my first announcement. In the nearby future I will give you the names of interesting web sites, where you can find good maps and the precise time of the eclipse.

Cool

I was in the south of Belgium on a camping site, in 1999. some people were shouting on the moment. On television we could see the views of the total eclipse in India of that moment. it was also in the southwest of England, north of France, Romania,...
In 1989, I had the luck of going with a bus from astronomy group to Finland - south-east, to the border with Russia, near Ilomansi, at Koitere lake. it was at 5 am, "full" midnight sun, still a little bit cold, mysterious landscape. The night midges and mosquitos were gone, but they came back very soon as it became dark. A storm wind was going from over the lake. You needed to put on your evening clothes on again, as well as a plastic coat for the midges. On the "ghosty" landscape a big night shadow was coming in 5-10 seconds and in about 2 minutes it became total dark. Later on television you could see the images made from supersonic planes who flew over the clouds, of the total eclipse, following the high speed movement of the shadow, from the west, over Finland, Russia, the north of Siberia, untill the Northern Pacific and Aleutian Islands.
